It's hard to drop that significantly when you are already that fast.
You guys have a great program. I am jealous.
I wasn't clear. His run when he won Freshman of the Week was like 10.7. I expect that to drop significantly if he's already been at 10.5. Anything lower than that you approach top 20 runner in the nation.

Like this?
did you not read his full post? He gave Achane credit for doing it.

From what ive seen, it's hard to turn that track speed into football acumen.
Bennie Brazell was extremely fast and got on the field at LSU, but just wasn't able to be a star. Achane is doing both.

I read it, just giving an example and I love that GIF

well it is a sick arse TD run for sure.

Lsu had a track star on our team. He douched-out on the season with the covid facade that everyone used to sit out. We could have used that speed in the secondary last year when devonta smith was beating our DBS like a rented mule.
Kerry vincent is who I was talking about. Should be a 3rd

The interesting thing is that he's a football player that runs track - not reverse. He's great with contact, and slippery to go with that speed. He was insane to watch in HS football (TD's for minutes on end), and he will be awesome as a "lightning" alternative to Spiller
His A&M highlights are pretty sweet before even getting to the Orange Bowl where he was learning the offense. He's impressive at weaving through traffic and following blocking as well.

He is listed at 5'9" which means he has a low center of gravity and good balance as evident in that gif. But you are correct, he is a speed back. And he may enjoy and excel at track, but he went to aTm to play football under Jimbo and has hopes of playing in the NFL.

So borderline Olympic sprinter speed. Sweet!

I wouldn’t go that far, but maybe easily one of the fastest players in the SEC.

That Laird guy clocked in under 20.

Insane. Achane hung with him thru the first 100 but then got smoked. But that’s rarely happened in his life.

I think you're right, but I think it's also clear that Achane is an exception. He's a football playing dude. Vision, tough, not afraid to block. He's special.
Edit: My bad. You gave Achane due credit for looking like he can do it on the field, too. mea culpa.

Again Freshman on the Week.
Posted on 4/3/21 at 10:37 pm to Farmer1906
The kid ran a 10.30 100 today.

Looks like he should give up football and focus on track. Maybe if he works on it full time, he could make the Olympic team.

NFL money > Olympic money.
Even SEC money > Olympic money.
Even SEC money > Olympic money.

I know. I don't want our defense to face him. I was most impressed with him.

The problem with a lot of Olympic athletes is no one gives a shite about them but for two weeks every four years and only a very few multiple gold medal winning, record breaking studs (Bolt, Phelps, Biles, etc.) become big names. 99.9% of Olympians could stand in Time Square all day and no one would recognize them.
The only way I would even consider advising a potential NFL player to take up T&F beyond college is if he had world record upside, and this kid's fast but not in that category.

I would prefer this myself.
But I wasn't being serious about Achane quitting football. I think he has Heisman potential.
