Just listened. He's the new Coach K if he wants to be. My fear is that his heart is in the NBA.

I doubt it. If it was then he wouldn't go back to college.

He went back to college probably because he knew he would never be a NBA HC every again after getting two shots and failing.

With his past experience, he knew he could probably ride the bus as an assistant for a couple years then get a mid major job (which he did),and then possibly parlay that into a "destination" type job for the long hual (which he kind of did).

If he got offered a prime NBA job, he'd probably jump in a heartbeat. You can hear his he still talks up the grind and the prestige of the NBA.

But dude's in his late 50s and he knows he can win and win big at Arkansas, so how much more jumping around does he want to do?

Programs are going to come after him hard, though. Arkansas better be willing to shell out big money to hold onto him or is back to the dark days.

It doesn’t have to be back to dark days. Coaches come and go.

Just stop making idiotic and emotional hires and we will be fine.

Jeff Long is currently cratering Kansas. I think the days of head scratching hires are over for us. Hunter seems legit.

He would have to win big here and it could take him some time. If he were to leave then he could be in his early to middle 60s. That is a bit old to jump to the NBA and expect a career out of it unless he expects a very short stay. Either way time is ticking.

You can count on one hand the number of programs that are both more prestigious and can pay more than us.

NBA is too busy hiring old retreads and recently retired players

Very true, but it still probably won't stop the likes of Minnesota, Indiana, etc from trying.

What scares me the most is Hunter's apparent frugality.

I read somehwere not long ago that is apparently why we lost Kiffin. He wanted more years and $$, and Hunter told him no, so he bolted.

Hope he knows he's going or have to go big to seal up Musselman for another few years

ok man, let me stop you for just a bit. While i agree with a whole bunch that you post. This just isn't one of them.

Kiff and Hunter had agreed in principal to $$$, and even a MOI was signed. Then his incredible agent played OM against AR for more. Once Kiff/Agent came back to Hunter showing the amount of difference, Hunter balked. They had an agreement and Kiff pushed, Hunter again balked.

I have heard from a decent source that Kiff then came back again and said, "Fine, I will take it" and Hunter said, "Nope, that ship has sailed".

Which honestly, I don't blame him. Kiff wants a big time job again and will bolt as soon as possible for it. IMHO
