Definitely since it’s at Bama

I hear ya... after watching his M St. team against I think Florida when Plaxico was one of the WRs, I wanted him at Alabama. Then he went to LSU and I watched Rohan throw for about a thousand yards against us one year... I was glad he went to the Phins.

Not nearly as happy as I was when he came to Alabama... I just never dreamed the last 12 years was possible. Honestly, the run since 08, not just the championships.

This is so sad. LSU has won two championships with two different coaches since he coached at LSU. You’d think you’d get over it at some point.

After Saban got exposed at Miami when everyone has equal talent he decided to go back to the minor leagues. It’s ok. When you don’t have the cards stacked in your favor then actual strategy comes into play. Some people can’t handle the big leagues. Spurrier, Petrino, Saban, Holtz.............. I think a fair assessment of Saban is his time at Michigan State. Above average not great

Saban worried tenn will start poaching his backups and they might actually give them a game once in awhile

Saban still has fond memories of his ex though and wish he never left her.

But he gets to bang the whore every year, every other year it's at her house..twice in a decade she rode him. Either way he gets to leave her again.

Is this the same Saban who told LSU fans he wasn't going anywhere and that he planned to be at LSU for a long time only to jet off to Miami. Commitment?

And NOW we get to the heart of it

I don't think talent had anything to do with it. It was more about control. you cannot control these primadonna NFL players, who are paid millions and told how great they are. He saw that there was an opportunity to actually do something good in the lives of these athletes BEFORE they all became azzholes. He is a disciplinarian, and that is about the only thing that can get thru some of these guy's heads. He tells them if they want to make the big bucks and have a possible career in the NFL, they need to keep clean, be respectful and learn their jobs. The process works.

Fans always want the players and coaches to love them and the program as much as they do - but they don't.

Saban ended up at Alabama because the stars aligned and he's stayed there because that's where he happened to be when he he was older and realized he wanted to stay in the college game.

They're all mercenaries, and you all are too. If someone offered you 3x your salary to go work in some rival school's football program you would do it. We all like football, but it's not as important as the mortgage.

There's a saying that people are only as loyal as their options. It's easy to be loyal as a fan when no one is throwing money and opportunities at you.

With his ego ,I have always been surprised that he accepted his failure in the NFL. I have bet friends in the past that he would try to prove to himself that he could coach on a level like Pete Carroll or Jimmy Johnson. Coaches who won in college with great talent and could translate that to a pro level.I do not think anyone would ever call Saban a great game coach. As it was said about Bryant , he could beat you with his players and then take your players and beat you. But you can not question that he is a great recruiter . It does not matter who his coaches are because they have better talent and do not have to spend so much of limited coaching time trying to develop players as other schools have to do . Talent is the key. This is the reason that Saban' s ex- coaches have not been successful. With the exception of Kirby. Ga recruits at a level the closest to Alabama. Time will tell with Kirby. If they can get the right QB before the NCAA gets them .

Nick Saban only coached two seasons in the NFL. He inherited a team that was 4-12 the previous season and went 15-17. After their first two seasons as head coach in the NFL, Pete Carroll was 16-16 (his second year he inherited a team coming off an AFC championship) and Jimmy Johnson was 8-24. Bill Belichick was 13-19.

In Saban's defense, he hasn't had many opportunities to win as an underdog. I personally think he did some of his best coaching in 2008-2009 before he had a roster stacked with a elite talent. He was a heavy underdog against teams like Georgia ('08) and Florida ('09) and beat the brakes off of them.

At every level.

You mentioned Pete Carroll and Jimmy Johnson. Pete Carroll has a HOF quarterback in Seattle. Johnson had a HOF QB at both Dallas and Miami. Barry Switzer is the other coach to win both a national title and a Super Bowl and he had Hall of Famers everywhere in Dallas. He also inherited an Oklahoma program that Chuck Fairbanks built, just like Johnson inherited a Miami program that Howard Schnellenberger built.
