What Ohio State national championship loss was the worst for them?

-Florida vs Ohio State 2007, 41-14
-Alabama vs Ohio State 2021, 52-24

Add in LSU versus Ohio State also. LSU whipped the dog snot out of them. The score doesn't indicate how bad it was. Ohio State sucks against the SEC in title games and bowl games

Classic Florida fan living in the past

Had to be 2007. Seemed like everybody thought OSU would cruise to a win.

Lsu was trash that year, Florida was the worst loss. Bama was the best team.

Agree, the sec was unknown back then. The Big Ten, ohio state and Michigan was known as huge powerhouses back then

Technically 3 since 1970 was 50 years before 2020. Which I guess would tie us with LSU. Now do losses to mike leach by 40.

Oh yeah, the year you lost the Rose Bowl and didn't finish #1 in neither the AP or Coach's Poll. Yikes

Ohio State getting assblasted by every SEC team they face for a title is a lot funnier than LSU's shitass defense getting worked in a fake season

So if it’s a fake season we didn’t lose to bama right?

LSU is the correct answer.
Herbstreit was in tears after the game.
It made him realize that Ohio State could never compete against the SEC unless they did something to improve team speed.
LSU gave Ohio State a valuable lesson on what they needed to do to compete.
It’s amazing how up until the kickoff they thought they were better and would win the game.

2007 for sure, everyone had Ohio State winning that game
Pretty sure Ohio state was a 7 point favorite in that game as well.
OSU only had 82 total yards

Honestly I have never seen a team so over matched.
Troy Smith won the Heisman that year too

4/14 passing 35 yards 2.5 average

The consensus expected OSU to comfortably beat Florida whereas the consensus expected Alabama to comfortably beat OSU.
Without a doubt, that asskicking in the 2006 season was a worse loss. That was going to be their best team ever and they just looked slow against Florida.

That game single handily started the SEC speed vs BIG 10 is slow narrative.

UltimaParadox, thanks for that graphic. I remember it feeling like a complete mismatch. Their OL straight up could not handle Florida’s DL. I’ve never seen an edge rusher get off the snap untouched more than in that game. It was one of the most decisive arse kickings I’ve ever seen in a national title game. Only the 2012 BCSCG (Alabama v. LSU) was close.

I forgot about that year that USC beat Oklahoma by like 40 points or some shite.
So my quick list since 1998:
1. 2004 USC over Oklahoma
2. 2006 Florida over Ohio State
3. 2011 Alabama over LSU
4. 2001 Miami over Nebraska
5. 2018 Clemson over Alabama
