Former Missouri offensive coordinator Derek Dooley filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the University of Missouri Board of Curators to dispute terms of his contract settlement. According to online court records, Dooley filed a petition for damages in Boone County Circuit Court.
Dooley, MU's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2018-19, was not retained by MU head coach Eli Drinkwitz when he was hired to replace Barry Odom after the 2019 season. Dooley's original three-year contract lasted through Feb. 28, 2021. He was making $925,000 per year at the time, an increase from his original salary of $900,000. According to the terms of Dooley's contract, if MU fired him without cause the school owed Dooley his base salary divided into monthly installments for up to 12 months.
Further details of the suit were not immediately available. According to online court listings, Dooley is represented by Kansas City law firm Votava, Lance and Johnson.

sounds like he has a winning case

seems pretty straight-forward. If they didn't abide by the terms of his buyout and pay him for 12 months after he was fired, then he should have sued them.

He's also still getting checks from UT.

I don't think there is anything more profitable than being a failed coach. I went into the wrong profession

So Missouri hires a Lawyer who can't coach and thinks he doesn't know how to sue for breach of contract?
Isn't Missouri supposed to be one of the higher ranked academic members of the conference?

The SJW at Wall-Marks need to take that China money and pay the man what they owe.

These contracts I am sure are written without ambiguity. Abide by the terms of the contract, whatever they are.

Dooley's agent is Jimmy Sexton. I can guarantee you they're iron clad and Dooley will get paid

I wonder who else hired a lawyer to be their coach in the SEC. Might have even gone 4-7

quote:And he didn't get paid when Texas Tech fired him, but that was a for cause termination, and Texas sovereign immunity law is probably the toughest in the nation.
