I’m friends with one of his college roommates. He has nothing but nice things to say about Lewis. As for being a Lewis fan or not, he was a product of his era. The humor may not resonate in today’s world, but it sure did in GA in the 70s.

Grizzard had his moments but his idol, Chicago's Mike Royko, was an absolute master columnist.

I knew Lewis at UGA. He actually interviewed me for a story about the baseball team but later told me it was too boring to print. Most of the stories about him at UGA, and later in Atlanta, were true. He was a funny guy.
