These two seem at odds for the most part based on survival needs.

If you had to pick a spot in the US with close access (1/2 hour drive or less), where are you living?

Alabama. Factor in off shore fishing and fertile ground for growing.

Missouri. Good sized deer and good fishing. I don’t drive anywhere as we have deer and bass in our property.

Adams County MS. State record bass. Most all of the top record deer in the state.

But it's already full so Texas would be next
