We are seeing lots of turkeys around our area. Had one cross the gravel road just as I was getting home yesterday evening. Almost jumped out and took a shot with my 9mm....
For those of y'all who thread on/off, do y'all use crush washers/shims or just crank it tight?
Crush washer if the firearm has one, if not, tighten it down. ...

I like direct thread because I am not switching from gun to gun at a fast pace. Easy enough to twist it off and twist it on another one. ...
re: Accessorizing a 10/22. Where to start?
Posted by SpookeyTiger on 4/22/24 at 10:18 pm
I did the same thing last year. Started with a standard 10/22 my Dad gave me a few years back.
Kidd 16”, stainless, bull barrel
Boyds AT-One thumb hole stock
Ruger BX trigger
Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25 x 56 optic
Harris bipod
Getting under 1/2” groups at 50 yards using SK Pistol Match a...

re: Light on EDC pistol
Posted by SpookeyTiger on 4/7/24 at 9:47 pm
Personally, no lights on EDC for the reasons you mentioned. Have flashlights in vehicles, and daily carry backpack that I can access if needed. Most if my EDC is done in the daylight so I see no reason to add weight or bulk to a pistol.
Most of my home defense weapons however have laser / light ...
re: Anyone taking advantage of the short ATF approval times?
Posted by SpookeyTiger on 4/2/24 at 11:21 am
My first one took a solid year.
Filed for two more last week through my Trust. Not expecting anything soon as I was told average wait times are 220 days. If it happens, I will be pleasantly surprised. ...

This 100%!
Just make sure you know if they charge credit card fees, what their shipping costs are and if there are any other hidden fees associated with the purchase.
Some of the prices are good until you ...

My last one from Silencer Central was easy as pie but took about a year.
However, my current one is a nightmare. Purchased a Banish 45 in October 2023, and they are running it through my current Trust.
Had issues logging into my account with them last year and they could never reset my passw...
re: I won’t judge, just curious, anybody here forked out for one of those STX ranch whitetails
Posted by SpookeyTiger on 3/3/24 at 6:44 am
Nope, but have a friend who has had several ranches out Sonora way over the years. We have hunted whitetail and Axis for free. In fact, will be going back in July.
I would not pay the money to hunt whitetail as I have better deer in my backyard here in Missouri. I am overall a meat hunter so not...
re: What will the effect be of non-permitted concealed carry?
Posted by SpookeyTiger on 2/29/24 at 5:16 pm
I have had CCW for more than 30 years in both Louisiana and Missouri. When LA first went to CCW permits there was fear mongering that there would be shootings at every stop light and grocery store. That didn’t happen.
When MO went to Constitutional carry some years ago, there was the same argumen...
re: constitutional carry vote happening today
Posted by SpookeyTiger on 2/22/24 at 1:58 pm
You are right. Unfortunately, Louisiana is its own worst enemy with the corruption. It passed last time with a "veto proof" majority but...after the Governor's veto, some changed their vote to not override the veto. Wonder why they would do that? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...

re: Walk around the woods sidearm
Posted by SpookeyTiger on 2/3/24 at 8:16 am
I carry a snub nose, hammerless, 5 shot Taurus in .38 and load with rat shot and solids. Walking around I don’t need more than that. More for copperheads than anything else.
If tracking a deer after dark, might grab a shotgun or AR to sling over my shoulder. No hogs here, so I would be shooting ...
