It slays me that so many people who purport to be serious fans of this sport cannot grasp the concept that there are two buyout figures associated with coaches' contracts: one for the school (to buyout the the coach when fired without cause) and one for the coach (to buyout the school when he wants to take another job).
And that the two are often vastly different amounts.

I believe every word of it. I believe that the main power brokers wanted and expected Steele to slide right into the HC position and if not for the #stopsteele campaign he would be the head coach. Maybe he wasn’t actively trying to undermine Gus but you and I both know he knew about it well in advance.
