P5 football should separate from NCAA

So says the Knight Commission in their report released today on the state of collegiate sports and its governance. The commission said that the P5 schools should break away from the NCAA in football and create a new governing body but all other sports remain under the NCAA umbrella.

I agree with this.
Granted, I would take a few g5 programs too, namely:
BYU
Boise St
Memphis
Cincinnati
UCF

There’s not a single P5 fan who understands athletic finances that would want to give those schools an additional $20 million a year. Would start to even the playing field too much for their comfort.

The Knight report suggests all of FBS leaving the NCAA, not just the P5.
