The best college team wouldn't have the 8th rated defense in its own conference
And the best college team ever surely would not fall further the next season than any national title winner in my lifetime
It's like this: LSU fans MIGHT have claimed 2019 LSU was the best ever, in spite of the fact the defense was 8th in its own conference, but this following season, the worst ever in my lifetime for a title team, proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that it certainly was not best ever.
