Thanks! There are a couple of Tractor Supply stores in the area. I'll take a look at it.

Liberty, Steelwater, Rhino all make pretty good ones. Liberty has a line at Cabela's. All 3 of those are made here and have 60-180 minute fire ratings depending on which model you buy.

Might I suggest an aquatic gun safe installed below your capsized boat?

I recently bought a Winchester from Harbor Frieght and I ilke it. Honestly tho, I would look for the best deal. There are different ratings on fire safety, but for me I just want to be able to lock them up in a heavy safe. So I looked more for overall room and internal options than I did fire rating.

There is a whole lot of marketing with them. Truth is, none of them are safes, they are lockers. Safes are extremely expensive and have to be certified to a much higher level.
A cordless angle grinder or even a fireman's axe can get in them quickly.
That said, they intimidate most would be crooks like the drugged up crowd or neighbors kids.
Rhino is my favorite with the steel revetting. Looks like a battleship.
They all work or don't work. Find one that looks good and fits the budget. Keeps the honest, honest.

I have a Canon that I have been pleased with and Canon has one of the best warranties in the business. I have a 60 gun safe which is empty since my boating accident. It’s really all in what you are looking for security wise. If you just want to keep kids and prying eyes off of your valuables then Canon, Liberty, Winchester are great at what they do. If your looking for something to store nuclear codes in then it is going to get more pricey. Whichever one you get make sure in has a port to place a golden rod or other dehumidifier. Mine does not so I have two rechargeable dehumidifiers that I rotate out on a monthly basis.

We have Liberty.
But that is as much a family tradition more than knowing I got the best value for my budget.
It is in the "you cant go wrong with..

This is probably the best "deal" out there. If you don't have a specific brand you're looking for, would be surprised if anything pops up better. As many have said, most gun safes are pretty commoditized. It's about brand marketing more than it is about product differences. Go with a decent brand at the best price you can get and call it a win if you don't have a specific need/want.

Burn time is the most important thing to look at. I’d also get a analog lock and bypass that digital lock. Liberty makes a good safe but there are better out there. What’s your budget?

Locked closet door in a climate controlled room like a guest room. Keep the ammo and any removable parts in separate Sentry safes in different closets in the house, then keep the keys to all those things in different places.

The home invaders in your area must be very patient.

Mine aren't for home protection. I have door locks, lights, cameras, and security for that.

The hottest part of a house fire is 1100 ish degrees. House fires often start in garages or fall to basements.
Then 200,000 gallons of water get dumped on it.

A lot of people keep important documents in their Gun safe so burn time would definitely be at the top of my list. Also a large Glock inventory would merit a safe with a longer burn time.

So you know, burn time is a function of how much gypsum board they use. That's it.
I would put important documents in a burn proof box, then in the gun safe.
I have seen the contents of many gun safes and the guns, are melted or burned to the point of a total loss.
If anything, I would invest in a locker that has a waterproof gasket.

I used to keep mine in waterproof cases, stored inside a 1/4" thick steel plate saferoom. Beyond that, if they burned/melted, I'd leave it to homeowner's insurance.
This was before my unfortunate boating accident, of course.

get a larger one - say for 64 guns - put a security device on it compatible with your home security system - bolt it in - don't store nearby the tools thieves would use to pry it open or chains to rip it away - sho0t and kill anyone who tries to steal it in the name of self defense - don't let people know you have a safe
