We should all be so lucky to live the life he lived.

I don't buy the "fell and hit his head" story. I think he was probably in a bar fight.

Jake Scott was my all time favorite Dawg. My first UGA year was 1967. I was lucky enough to see all of Scott's games in Athens. Scott was a great safety and a great return man. R.I.P.

That guy lived life to the very edge. It was a full life. Farewell to a DGD... We could all be so lucky.

Jake and Dooley butted heads many times. I remember him well from my time at Georgia.

When I was at Georgia and living at Callaway Garden apartments, I would stop by the Fifth Quarter, which was owned by Wayne Swinford (who played for Dooley), on the way home from class and have a long neck Bud or two. In the Spring of either 75 or 76, I was leaning on the bar having my afternoon beer and I heard Swinford say "Damn Jake, what are you doing in Athens". I turned to look and coming in the bar was Jake Scott himself, sleeveless t-shirt, cut off shorts and sneakers. Seems like just yesterday and now he's gone. Damn, just damn.

As a Dawg and Dolphin fan, Jake was my first favorite football player. I was 7 years old when he and the Dolphins went undefeated in 72 and he won SB VII MVP. RIP Jake.

Jake had a record 16 INTs at UGA...in only 22 games...10 alone in 1968. His record has since been tied by Bacarri Rambo and Dom Sanders..in 55 games. Good Lord, what a player! 49 INTs in a 9 year pro career..thats at least 5 a year.

Jake was an uncanny ball hawk. It seemed as if Jake knew where the ball was going before the QB did. He still holds the Dolphins interception record also.

Also 440 yards on 35 punt returns at UGA in 1967-1968.
