We were all pretty much washing our hands of this guy. When I have time, I'll read the story, but I have to believe someone screwed up big time.

Opposing lawyer is now being charged with extortion. And there, you have it. That's why good lawyers are so expensive. You get what you pay for.

quote:

The charges were dropped just hours after the Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrested attorney William Dean on charges of extortion related to soliciting a cash payout for three of the four alleged witnesses in exchange for altered testimony, as first reported by The Post. The three men recanted allegations against Baker last week but no money exchanged hands, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

quote:

“Subsequently the alleged victims and the known witnesses have become uncooperative and their credibility is inalterably tarnished,” Assistant State’s Attorney Paul Valcore said in a statement.

quote:

What changed? They provided sworn testimony that they “did not get an accurate look at the events as they occurred, that DeAndre Baker was present but not involved in any criminal act and that they were not robbed or assaulted,” according to Valcore.

quote:

It is not expected that the Giants will bring back Baker despite the change in his circumstances. There were questions about his work ethic and commitment throughout his rookie season.

Doesn't sound like he was lucky so much as the other people were full of fricking shite, and it all fell apart.

I'm not sure how to answer this. Is it a trick question or sarcasm?

He's lucky in that even if they were full of shite, he still could have gone down for it. Innocent people are convicted all the time. He's hanging out in the wrong crowd if they're going to accuse him of robbing their little underground poker game. He's obviously doing shady shite. How many times have you been accused of armed robbery?

He needs to take a look at how close he was to going to prison for a minimum of 10 years and start making better decisions with his life.

Giants still don't want anything to do with em.Supposedly an issue with his attitude and work ethic.Didnt seem to be an issue in college.

Hopefully this was "come to Jesus" awakening.

Making large sums of money is way easier in the nfl than it is in normal life. He should clean up who he hangs with and make bank for many years in the nfl.

What happened with those text messages concerning Bakers attorney paying off the "victims" to change their testimony?

Just a misunderstanding. Their view of the truth may have changed given other circumstances.
