1) we are due for a letdown/off game so it wouldn’t surprise me.

2) MSU has a strong inside presence.

3) Ben Howland is a crafty veteran coach. He may have something cooked up for Bama.

4) That line movement may be due to smart money, BIG money coming in on State. That’s a huge line move.

Damn, Tattoo, you are older than me and I thought I was the resident geezer on the board. I only go back to the CM Newton days.

If I were gambling today, I would bet the house on LSU moneyline today. Everyone keeps thinking this is the game Big Blue turns it around but it hasn’t happened yet. I don’t think it will. This is finally the year the one and done recruiting philosophy bites Cal. It was bound to happen, a year where he just doesn’t have a cohesive group. There’s talent there, but they aren’t gelling. I don’t think it’s gonna happen.

Hell, even as an inconsistent freshmen, he's had gorgeous shooting form. He's always looked like an NBA sharp shooter, until it left his finger tips.

And now, those shoots have started falling like you'd expect with that form. Combine that with other areas of his game he's worked on and improved, and he's looking like he might not have to make a stop in Europe anymore.

Nate Oats just wrapped up a 20-minute Friday news conference in which we learned his neighbor growing up was a Frito-Lay delivery driver named Steve Moulton who would give Oats his outdated stock of chips.

I had a neighbor friend, across the street, who's Dad worked at Frito Lay. Anyone who works for them can load up on chips. They always had everything they made. It was cool as a kid. But really cool as a teenager when I started smoking weed.

They eventually stopped getting them, because they were all getting fat. Not long after, we quit hanging out as much, and eventually I moved. He had a bratty, fat little sister. Apparently, after I moved, and after a while without those chips, she became hot as hell. When I went back in my mid 20s to visit my parents, and saw what she'd turned into, I regret not being cooler towards her.

I grew up near a guy that worked for Keebler who also supplied us with lots of cookies and crackers. I remember getting a bunch of those EL Fudge cookies right before they were officially launched.

I am not a gambling expert by any means, but I’m not sure I see the fuss. 14 just seems like a big number versus a team that’s not bad. A team that, for example, beat Florida.

Or maybe they know something we don’t roster wise, but as far as I can tell there’s been zero smoke about that.

My neighbor growing up drove a frito lay delivery truck. About once a week he’d bring a box over full of chips and grandma’s cookies. It’s a miracle that I made it out of my teens less than 300lbs.

Oklahoma 29
(9) Kansas 28

Half

Would be a good win for us at Oklahoma next week, especially if they can hang on today. It’s also a noticeably slower pace than we play. Both teams run a lot of half court sets and take their time. It feels painfully slow after watching Bama play.

If I’m a recruit, the fast paced, drive and shoot scheme that Oats runs would be very tempting. Compared to some of the more traditional schemes, it’s a very exciting brand of basketball.

I didn’t realize how good Jared Butler is. Shame it didn’t work out for him here although Avery might still be here if it had

Five power-conference schools — Baylor in the Big 12, Villanova in the Big East, Alabama in the SEC, Virginia in the ACC, and UCLA in the Pac-12 — are entering this weekend with perfect league records. Of the group, the biggest surprise is probably the Crimson Tide considering Nate Oats' team started unranked.

Did you realize Alabama is taking an eight-game winning streak into Saturday's game with Mississippi State -- and that the Crimson Tide has won their past three games by an average of 27 points while bombing the opposition from beyond the arc? They were 14-of-30 from 3-point range in an 85-65 victory over Kentucky, 15-of-36 from 3-point range in a 90-59 victory over Arkansas, and 23-of-43 from 3-point range in a 105-75 victory over LSU. Add it up, and Alabama has made 52 of the 109 3-pointers it's attempted in its past three contests. That means Alabama took, on average, 36.3 3-pointers per game in that stretch, and made 47.7% of them. So it's not difficult to understand why those games were all lopsided.

Is this sustainable?

At that rate, probably not. But the fact that Alabama has the 11th-best adjusted defensive efficiency rating in the sport makes the Crimson Tide a legitimate Final Four contender. Going into every game, you know nearly every other shot is coming from beyond the arc. If Alabama makes above 40% of them, it probably isn't losing. And even if it doesn't make a great rate, the defense is strong enough to keep the Crimson Tide in games against nearly anybody, which is among the reasons Alabama, No. 10 in Saturday morning's updated CBS Sports Top 25 And 1 daily college basketball rankings, is now considered the favorite in the SEC. The school has not won a regular-season league title in men's basketball since 2002. But, barring injuries, a surprise, or a collapse, that figures to change come March.

Agreed. They’re one of the better SECN combos. Looks like they got the ATM Ole Miss game.

Did anybody catch mention during the LSU game about Bama shooting 3's for five minutes in warm ups or practice.

Something about how many he wanted them to make in that time, or they would start the 5 minutes again?

I think he said 89 or something like that.

Yeah that’s been known. You have to make 90 in 5 minutes(or something like that) if you don’t reach it Nate Resets the clock until the team does reach it no matter how many tries it takes

Not trying to step on Chad’s toes... He brings the heat in this thread and gets new info in here faster than I can read it. Thought it was a decent breakdown while I was checking the announcers for today though.

I haven’t watched MSU much, but Stewart and Smith seem to be a legit combo. Another game where Bruner’s inside presence would be nice to have. We need to keep them off the glass and protect the ball. Howland is undoubtedly going to try to slow it down, so defensive rebounding will be big for us to get into the break. I like our chances though. I don’t think they have the depth to keep up if we’re playing well both ways.
