and Wilson throws for 309 yds, and two interceptions.
LINK
Rolando McClain and Rashad Johnson both had interceptions. One was a tipped ball and one was during the two minute drill.
Terrance Cody was a beast on the defensive line.

Scoop- did they go first team off vs second team def and vise versa? I know that's how Saban did it here. I saw Julio caught two passes for 59 yds. Is he running with the first or second team offense? Just curious,,,

Sounds like the offense is ahead of the defense as was the case with AU today. I prefer it the other way around but am not surprised in either case at this point this year.

Seems like you failed to mention a few details.
"Just got back from the scrimmage (Red Elephant Club) and this is what I observed:
1. JPW had a real good day. Looks very comfortable and threw the ball well. Went against the 2nd defense."

yes...he went first team offense against second team defense.
He rotated julio out with the first team. Julio will play a lot this year if not a starter. I think he will be a starter before the year is out. He is the real deal. We will never keep him 4 years I don;t think.
Mark Ingram, the running back from Michigan is the real deal also. He will play a lot this year. I also noted that Upchurch had about 59 yards rushing but about 79 yard recieving so we must be throwing to the running backs.
Saban said he really doesn't have them divided into first and second string just yet but still in groups but he said it is time to break them into first and second teams.

I'm pretty sure Rashad Johnson and Rolando McClain are on 1st team defense

Absolutely...he mixed them into different groups. They are not divided into first and second string at this point. He is trying to figure out which freshmen are going to be able to contribute. He said we have 8-10 guys that can impact this team.

If McClain is not on the first team defense maybe Saban is not the talent evaluator we all thought.

I can't wait to see Mark Ingram

Mark Ingram is the real deal. I think he will get about 20 carries a game.

Saban blasted reporters about depth charts last week. It was a pretty stupid rant. The main Bama beat writer actually stood up to him a tiny bit in an article. I think he was a bit miffed that Saban went off and it was directed at him because he correctly pointed out a simple factual observation in a blog or article that a lineman was working with the first team in practice one day. Saban went out of his way to say that there was no depth chart, first or second team. Players are simply placed in "administrative groups" to make practice manageable. Ok. Whatever.
Reporter actually showed the first tiny bit of not being a total pussy when he wrote something that was not a glowing bow down to Saban's brilliance column.

By the way scoop. Julio is the one player that kinda worries me when AU and Bama play. He is not the best player on the team, etc but he is a big play guy. AU is thin in the secondary and AU and Bama will likely be a fairly evenly matched game this year, esp in BD. Julio has the potential to make one or two big plays that could impact the game. When the teams are pretty close it is often a couple of big plays that separates the winner and loser.

I think if y'all have a qb emerge as a leader and become productive in this new offense y'all are a much better team than we are. We still have very little depth. We will be competitive in the SEC next year but this year is still a learning curve for too many guys.

Our defense worries me. I think Rhoades will do well, but part of it is hope as he is an unproven commodity and a new coach in the SEC. Our thin secondary worries me going against what I perceive as a Bama strength. Unfortunately (from my point of view) I think JPW is going to be much improved and the line will give him time.
I think AU's offense will be very good and the best we have had in years. I have not been sure if I liked the change, but now I think I do. I am worried about how the tempo affects our D if we have short quick possesions.
Finally as far as the IB, I think this is the first time AU will actually face a significant home field advantage for Bama at BD. I think the crowd will be much more of a factor than in past IB's at BD where the Bama crowd has not impressed me much.

Agreed scoop. I actually don't see a big improvement record wise for you guys next year. I think it is a learning curve year for many guys. I think the big jump in improvement is next year for Bama. I think you will see discipline and assignment approvements this year but with all the freshmen it will take a year. JMO

Actually, one was a tipped ball by a receiver. The other was during the two-minute drill.
They are both turnovers, but not as bad as straight up throwing the ball to an opposing player.
BTW, who is LSU's QB?
Not trying to be funny, I am just wondering if the Ivy Leaguer is going to get the start.

Bama Scoop Nice Post.
Looking forward to the Clemson game as it is the best game over the opening weekend. Clemson is a talented team but definitely beatable.

I think they are beatable as is every team, I'm just not sure we can beat them. I'm not sure if the game being the first game of the year helps us or hurts us. We will have a lot of young guys that have never been in an atmosphere like that before.
They have some issues also.
