Sunshine Etienne and Clemson would cut the Bama D to shreds right now and it's hard to win a big game knowing you have to score every time you have the ball.
Should Bama win out and get to the playoffs my hope is the defense does like LSU's did last year and gets better at the end, enough to get a few stops on someone, because Clemson or anyone else is going to have a fit stopping the Alabama offense.
The key is actually the offensive line. Clemson is a lot like UGA, blitzes stunts and exotic coverages to pressure the QB into mistakes. This could be as good a group as there has been at Alabama and I think they can handle anything anyone throws at them. Mac is not like Tua, he will take what the D gives him and not get greedy. Plus that line is massive and the run game has come around they can pound those Orange SOB's into the dirt if they choose to.
Just a couple of stops Golding. That's all this D has to do.

We just beat a top 5 team by 17.

I despise Golding but Bama fans should lay off him for at least a week or two. He did his job well tonight. Shut out Georgia in the second half.

That had just as much to do with UGA overthrowing open receivers, stopping running the ball, dropping passes, or throwing into double coverage. Bama’s D did look better in the 2nd half but that won’t fly with Clemson. Plus I wonder if Saban took over some. Maybe they simplified things.

As big of disaster as that last drive at the end of the 1st half was. ( jumping off sides twice. Have 3 wide open receivers ..in successive plays....bennett missed the first two)
And as much as i think UGA play calling helped...the D was different in the 2nd half and i have to give Golding credit for v that

They did tackle better. But if I were an OCoordinator I'd throw wheel routes all night long til we stopped them, we still haven't.
I did see some signs of life out there, and my hope is this D grows up , an average Alabama defense wins a national title this year.

Well, we haven't seen Ohio State yet. It's highly likely that bama would have to go thru them before Clemson.

You have the same problem we do. Figuring out how to get a couple of stops. Your boy Venables' usual bag of tricks will not save you this time, that OLine is just too good.

I thought the defense looked better last night. Still need to shore up that run D. I believe I heard when UGA abandoned them run they were averaging 5.2 YPC in the third quarter.

Remember bennett gifted Alabama 14 point in back to back possessions, the score was alot more lopsided than the game stats and eye test would show.
