Sorry I don’t have a link but Jay Barker is reporting that the SEC will be using a tracking device on the players for contact tracing. The NFL is also doing this. It’s the same system. I really don’t like this idea and find it to be a huge violation. Does anyone else find this to be an issue? Or am I overreacting?

Players can opt out if they want. I’d have an issue if this was required of the general population. But not a specific subset of guys engaging in a unique activity

It’s like they are trying to get games canceled

It works like a taser. If Bama starts to lose the SEC office (Bama Alumni Association) will zap the other teams players to allow the Gumps to catch up.

Most of this board doesn't care, as long as we get our football.

Plus, they're consenting to it.

Constitution > Covid. frick the nanny state. They maybe can track you while you are involved in a football activity but not beyond.

I'm all for privacy but I wish the US did a better job of contact tracing of covid. If you got covid, wouldn't you want the people who may have come in contact with you notified? The SEC seems to be ahead of the curve versus the other conferences. Bravo.

If my boss ever wanted to put a tracking device on me, that would be the end of that relationship.

All SEC football players have the option to opt out and keep their eligibility.
They can elect to wear these or not play.

There’s not really any rule that this is necessarily violating. I could see it being an issue if it were continued beyond this unusual season.

This is the SEC, you come to school to play for a chance at the NFL. It's unfortunate that SEC schools also have the best looking girls and the best party atmosphere sooooo that makes it tough lol

Mullen logs into player tracking app and realizes many players regularly stop by his house while he’s at work.
