2020 -- Georgia's Year

This was going to be the year man. Would have heard our last 1980 jokes. But then, a pandemic happened. And Newman decided he was scared of the killing disease. Now Georgia looks to be at best, a team that falls gut-wrenchingly short of a title, and pretty darn mediocre at worst.
Maybe another 40 years from now they will have another chance! And maybe, just maybe, a pandemic will NOT happen that time around.

Auburn 1 NC in last 50+ years...weird thread.

50+? How odd and arbitrary. Strangely enough, that's almost as long as it has been since UGA has won a natty at all.

Being the backup school has done a weird thing to Auburn’s psyche. This thread, anything by Omega, Garrison, BowlJackson, etc.
I give them credit for still talking trash to UGA. If we went 3-12 against somebody I probably wouldn’t engage with them. To be fair most of them just switch to being Bama fans after Auburn drops the UGA game so it doesn’t bother them too much

Nope. If you think about what has been one of the limiting factors for Georgia, it has been QB position. Yea, Murray set SEC records but fizzled in the NFL because he was not a pro level/championship level QB. Fromm was basically the same. The only NFL/championship level QB we have had was Matt Stafford and he had an insufficient supporting cast.
Flash forward to 2020 and we still don't have a championship level QB. About our 2 "best" quarterbacks, Mathis is recovering from brain surgery and Daniels who is recovery from ACL surgery and still isn't cleared for full contact last I heard.
So no, as usual I don't see the stars being aligned for the Dawgs this season.

Other than OL, Staffords supporting cast was fine.
The problem with Stafford was that he played his last college game at 20 years old. For comparisons sake, Aaron Murray was 20 years old as a redshirt freshman. Joe Burrow won a national championship and Heisman at 23 years old.
I'm proud of Stafford and glad he was a Dawg. But we were his development. We maybe had one game where he was a polished product (bowl game against Michigan State)

I’m sure UGA rejections notices just went out. Only way to explain this melt.

Eventually they will win a natty.

Totally disagree on Aaron Murray. He was absolutely a championship level QB.

Murray was like a lot of college qbs.
Given time in the pocket, he picked apart a ton of defenses.
Given a 2 minute drill with 4 downs to play, he could be lethal as well.
He wasnt very capable of taking over a game when UGA was losing at the line of scrimmage. If you hit Russell Wilson or Drew Brees enough, they will make costly mistakes. A lot of Murrays success boils down to the run game keeping a defense honest and an OL that can give him just enough time (didnt always need 3 seconds, but struggled against free runners).
