Too bad mere mortals like us can't opt out of our jobs and not be fired. If I said I didn't feel like coming to work because I was afraid of the virus, I would be fired.

Probably just me, but I hope every player who opts out loses their contract and isn't paid this year.

In the real world you have to work to be paid.

Well, when they opt out, they only get $150,000 for this year from what I understand. Still, 90%^ of the public would take "only" $150k all day every day!

In the real world everyone has different skills which lead to different jobs. Some of those jobs have more benefits and perks than others. What applies in your job doesn't apply to someone who can make money playing football. That's life.

Can't blame guys for taking advantage of those perks.

Yeah. But most day jobs don’t call on you to be in close, physical contact with co-workers for three hours. A decent percentage of those day jobs have also adjusted to being remote work.
