If you don’t die, you get to go pick up your student football tickets.

Just would like to know what you guys think should be the punishment for something like this?
I don't think that its fake, but I would like to see their evidence. If its just hearsay then there really should be no punishment.

That not one of these nitwits is allowed within 50 miles of their grandparents.

I posted this on another board and I’ll post it here.
I’m in a unique position where I talk to locals and students on a daily basis. There have been rumors of these parties for over a month, all from people who live on the other side of town, in the 06. I haven’t spoken to a single student who had even heard of these corona parties, and this was well before these articles came out. The common response was, “are we having parties? Yeah. Are they parties to get corona? No. I don’t want to get Covid.”
I would also like to add that not all of the locals are buying it either. I think one article said there was a party in a field. That’s true, but the party was a bunch of local high school kids, not UA.

Punishment? I guess you can compare this to “Who will jump off this high ledge into the river?” challenge.
I guess the parents can ground them , otherwise I don’t see a big deal about it. Personally, as a parent, I wouldn’t be thrilled if my kid wanted to partake in this, but I just wouldn’t enforce some strict punishment for his getting a cold for two days

I do.
Remember the 'confirmed reports' of busloads of people going to riot and pillage every small town in the south a few weeks ago?
Same thing.
Someone in the Tuscaloosa FD says 'hey chief, you heard anything about people going to parties knowing they've got corona?'
Chief calls his buddy at the hospital, who says 'yeah we heard something like that too.'
Chief, who should know better, relays the rumor in council and says he 'confirmed' it. Media, who knows better but doesn't care because the headline gets clicks, runs with the story - now Tuscaloosa is having 'rona parties.

If it is true, the participants should be charged with a crime and prosecuted.
If it's false, the media outlet who ran the story without proof should be sued by UA for slander.

I saw this on twitter and it’s true.
That was really stupid of them. I’d be pissed if I went to that party not knowing and catch it from I guy trying to win money.

The first part of this statement makes me really doubt the second.

As much as the media is indeed an enemy of truth, this isn't on them. They reported what a government official stated as truth in an open meeting.

I agree with this.

39 COVID-related deaths in Tuscaloosa. 23 of those over the last month...
LINK
As a comparison, only 7 deaths reported in Madison County, home to Huntsville and nearly double the population of Tuscaloosa County.

I wonder what the age 50+ population is for both places?

Why? No one specifically even mentioned UA. It says Tuscaloosa.

Have y’all also heard about the latest gang initiations where they drive with their headlights off, and if you flash your lights at them, they run you off the road and give you COVID?
Also, this Halloween, there is going to be a haunted house that is super scary because they use real stuff and can touch you. You even have to sign a waiver to go through, and if you make it all the way to the end you get COVID.
