Backup QB Mac Jones — A 2020 Reality Check

With the preseason bluster and pressure and accolades to carry on Tuna’s legacy and get another title for the Nipper to break Bear’s Record, folks just forget that Jones is just an ordinary college kid. He likes to drink, chase skirts, and drink and do your average college kid things on a June day on a sandy Orange Beach. Hell raising is just an accepted form of college life, and kids are just gonna be kids.
Each opposing Gridiron Warrior is due a nickname and my chosen tag for Mac Jones for Fall 2020 is “Dump”
Four reasons:
1. Rhymes with Gump — That’s humorous
2. Tua pretty much loaded Mac’s wagon “dumping” the weight of a Crimson world of worry and expectations on this poor kid.
3. When the real heat is on, like the heat Tua got last year from LSU and Jones got vs AU, will he “cowboy up” or go into Dump Mode vs Bigtime Dee. We have had a preview, be honest.
The Dump Jones Dilemma
Now it’s obvious this 18th ranked Pro Style QB coming out of high school suffers from compulsive behavior and control issues. Argue this? He has 1 DUI arrest — Anyone care to speculate on the number of times a Bama fan cop let him “off the hook” — All speculation aside, it’s no wonder 1/2 of the Gump Nation cannot wait to get Bryce Young in there at starting QB, thus the 4th reason that I nicknamed him Dump Jones.
4. Jones will be “DUMPED” at the very first opportunity to allow Bryce Jones his shot and everyone knows it’s gonna happen.
I’d even give the folks 50:1 Heisman odds (Odds on Dump have been as low as 20:1), if I could find folks stupid enough to take it.
Dump has always been/will always be just a backup QB in college who will never sniff the NFL. Get the nets! Get your flame throwers, but Truth > Fantasy > Jones for Heisman

too early to judge the kid. he played admirably from what I saw last year. problem is that with tuna and those talented receivers they didn't run a sophisticated passing attack(they didn't need to) and that's what a qb like jones needs.
if their defense is better than last year, and they believe it will, he may be more than adequate. don't forget, Najee is back at rb and he was coming into star form by the middle of the season.

Mac and Bryce are certainly unknowns.
But you know how I think they’ll probably be okay?
Because I have to assume Saban would be working the transfer portal like a madman to find a QB if he didn’t think they were good enough to run the offense this year.
