Well, we have 3 championships with 3 different coaches in the 2000s, so my butt isn’t too chapped

ETA: also it took Bama only 4 posts to make the thread about them

deservingly so. This is the coach that ripped his shirt off and seriously challenged players to come fight him in the team auditorium. O was a much different coach back then than he is now.

I was genuinely happy LSU gave him his shot though. Thought USC was dumb for not letting him have a few years after his interim success. He's changed a ton from when he was at OM. He so adamant on running the USC offense at OM and there's was no QB or skills players good enough for that. When he finally let Freeze call plays things started working much better, but his ego wouldn't let him turn the offense over. He kept sticking his nose into it. If he could've just been hands off on offense he would have been at OM for a few more years.

He pulled a lot of NFL talent into OM. Butt benefitted so much from O's hard work.

I don't think anyone believes O becomes the coach his or wins a natty at OM.

He's was right guy in the right spot at the right time with the right pieces.

But back to the topic. There's no reason to believe this kid won't be the #1 guy coming out of HS with more than the Lawrence/Fields hype. If it comes down to the wire and he picks another SEC school heads will freakin explode in Oxford.

If he goes to Miss St to play for Leach it's about even money there's some major arson or a fan brawl at the Egg Bowl or some other craziness. Nobody believes the fake ambivalence.

Archie took the brunt of the outcry on this one. The Ole Miss Great was persona non grata for a long time. The leaking only began when Eli committed.

Guessing Cooper & Gramps will take the hit if Arch goes anywhere except Oxford.

Doesn't the Manning family have some weird issue with LSU too though? That's what I've read other places but have no idea if it's true.

Depends on what's going on with our program. If Ole Miss is any good, there will be some whining. On the other hand, if we suck balls and LSU is good, I don't think anyone could blame Arch for not coming to Ole Miss.

This guy gets it.

If we suck, he isn't coming to Oxford. Pretty simple.

Y'all are counting out Cutcliffe and Tennessee too.

This is correct. The only reason Houston Nutt won any games at Ole Miss was because Ed O did a great job recruiting and left him a very talented roster. Think about all those dudes on the 2008 - 2009 Rebels: Jevan Snead (he was great in 2008); Dexter McCluster; Peria Jerry (first round DT); Michael Oher; Mike Wallace; Shay Hodge.

Arch isn't going to Mississippi State.

I could see Oklahoma being a player too. Lincoln Riley has consistently produced Heisman trophy winning/finalist QBs who are high draft picks.

Don’t forget Greg Hardy. He was a piece of garbage but he was about as good as you can get (when he wanted to be)

No doubt. I met him once in 2010. He was at the car wash on Jackson washing his bright blue Hummer H2. I was washing my 1997 Ford Ranger with the royal blue interior, stick shift, and AC and radio that didn't work

Yea, not sure why Ole Miss fans are outright denying this. Ole Miss has a lot of fairweather fans though, so if Ole Miss isn’t very good when the decision is made, the melt will be much less severe and limited to only their hardcore crazies.

Not happening. Honestly don’t think reasonable MSU fans would even want him due to how deep into OM politics the Mannings are. That’s just asking for some toxicity.

It takes far less for this type of stuff to happen.
