How Will You Spend Your Time Without Football?

Because we are not going to have college or pro football this year. Time to step back and look at our lives and be thankful for the things we do have. Sports rivalries, hating people because of where they went to school? Frankly, I think we need a break from it. Coaches' salaries are out of control, and the purpose of universities was never sports.
The last thing that will return when this pandemic is finally over will be large, crowded sporting events. Yes, I enjoy college sports (not pro), but I also have a life independent of it.
Don't get mad at the messenger. I'll be shocked if we have football this year.

Easier for an Ole Miss fan than most, that’s for sure.

Exactly what we need a break from. When lives are at stake.

Without football it will be the end of a lot of schools athletic teams that play at 1-aa and non power 5
The landscape will look a lot different and it will be years for it to come back for some schools

Making fun of A1abana fans for being irrelevant.

nicholastiger makes a good point: the lower division schools will be hard-pressed to continue to have athletics. Many of them are in the red already. I didn't make the original post to be a downer, but life after the pandemic will not be the same for us.

Sadly, don't think we'll play either. Bring back Dixie by the way...

We all do. But, sports provides a great distraction from the stresses of that independent life. It's an important part of a lot of people's mental health. It's also very important to the economy of a lot of cities. It goes way beyond "just a game" to a lot of peolle for a lot of different reasons.

They will play without fans before they cancel it outright. I agree with your premise though there are way too many sports fans that get their self worth from sports teams. I have plenty of friends who are bitchy for days after their team losses. It’s pathetic

Hopefully doing something that matters for a change. I’ve wasted too much time watching meaningless games.

“It’s an important part of people’s mental health”? If your mental health is greatly impacted by your favorite team then you need to be talking to someone about your mental health

So we 5 months away from football and they already cancelling? Plain stupid to cancel already.

We are talking all sports here, not just your favorite team. That's what some people count on as their stress relief and their way to relax. It's not always an easy thing to just replace.

I guarantee you there will be football. There is way too much money at stake here not to. The only questions I have are as follows:
1. Will there be a Spring practice and how long will that last? I think the answer is yes and it will be about a month in duration.
2. Will the season start on time?
3. Will they play a condensed schedule?
4. Will they allow fans in the stands?

Lucky 75! Post number 75. Scored 75 over LSU for the win. That must be your lucky number!
