From 1990 to 2020 30 years the SEC chanpionship game was added South Carolina, Arkansas, Mizzou, & Texas A&M joined. Obviously there's been classic games played and more will be played in the next 30. Im more interested in the structure of the conference will more schools be added. Will any leave?

LSU celebrating it's 30-peat.
Bottom-tier Alabama is close to defunding their football program. Nick Saban's corpse is rolled out at halftime of each game.
Vandy and Kentucky battle it out for the SEC East division championship each year.
Texas A&M was traded to the MAC Conference for Kent State

A lot less recognizable than asking this question in 1990.

Football as we know it won't be played still in 2050. Whatever is left over will be a shadow of it's former self
Basketball will have long since been the most popular sport in the US, as well as in most of the rest of the world too.

The game will probably be a lot different. I bet it will be mostly throwing and linemen and backs play less of a role. Game might look different with highly advanced helmets. As long as the CTE fear doesn’t hurt the game. Also I bet super-conferences will be a thing, so someone like Oklahoma could be in the SEC.

1980 will be even more hilarious

Eh basketball is popular but look at how the NFL utterly dominates the ratings and money game. It will take a while for football to be dethroned. But I bet a lot of smaller colleges will shutter their football programs though. Hot take, USC football will not exist in 2050.

Football won't even be a sport in 30 years I'm afraid.

There will be Soccer Riots after the Championship game. Football will be a distant memory.

Football is a niche sport that's only ever been popular in one country.
Basketball is already the 2nd most popular sport globally and making up ground by the day. If basketball continues to grow globally at the same rate it has over the last 20 years then it'll be king before you know it

Compared to Soccer/Futbol?
We view things through a North American lens but soccer is far and away the most popular sport in the world.
Yes, yes, I know, we don't care that much about it so it can't be that popular... but it is.
You could make a good argument that it is soccer, cricket (obscenely popular in India and Pakistan), then basketball. And basketball sort of gets the third place by default.

Only if you're 6'5".
Soccer will be the new game in town.

There will be 40 or so colleges still playing football. High school football will be gone (uninsurable risk due to litigation around CTE), outside of private academies for the genetic freak athletes who will make their way to the 40 colleges. However, players will be employees, not students. Essentially a junior league for the NFL.

It will be a form of flag type football, if even played at all.

Wrong. Soy boys run like girls and have the stamina of my dead grandfather.

Yeah, probably closer to the 7-on-7 style, unfortunately.
