Russia isnt far from an oligarchy.
There are many forms of oligarchy

Yall couldn't even get far enough through Lewis and Hershel's sentence before you got triggered.... read his whole sentence. It's actually brilliant.

Regulated in what way? Right to work? Income? What the frick do you want?
Just because you spend thousands and blow your parents money on a worthless degree, serving drinks, every night doesn’t mean ANYONE should give a shite about you.

So many leftists equate capitalism with anarchism or libertarianism, but they all seem to be distinctly different things.
Can one be a capitalist that agrees with common sense regulations against fraud and graft and the million other laws against corruption and exploitation? I'm here to learn.

Have no idea what you're talking about

And I don't think you know what an oligarchy is

Yes, I'm not ranting against capitalism I think properly regulated it's without a doubt the best system one could use.

Well considering socialism hinges on control... I best look the other way.

My pastor told me at yesterday's prayer breakfast that capitalism and socialism are incongruent. Is that true?

Define regulations. Depends on what you do and where you live I guess. If one Plumbing company is a 7.5 million dollar company and another is 500k... Should that company be defined as good at what they do or the other needs more training?

You do realize that most regulations favor the 800 pound gorillas of their industries? Intended or unintended... that is how it always works. Regulations usually hurt more than they help in terms of an equal opportunity for businesses.

Regulations were intended to protect the public... Industries use it to protect them from lawsuits... nothing else.

I agree with you.
Take the housing crisis for example.
First, politicians should have never created a clearinghouse for shitty mortgages and encourage shitty lending.
Second, banks should’ve never been able to sell their loans and divorce themselves from taking shitty risks.
Third, Wall Street should’ve never been allowed to buy these shitty loans and bundle them into shitty securities without the regulators knowing what was in them and the risk they involved
Fourth, the Fed should’ve never manipulated money rates to where banks didn’t have to worry about their actual return on their high risk loans.
Fifth, the govt should’ve never bailed out everyone that was involved with peddling these shitty loans. Instead they should’ve backed depositors whose banks played with their money.
Sixth, the execs and BODs of everyone involved should’ve been liable for the money everyone lost due to this whole fiasco.
BUT people that couldn’t pay we’re getting houses and everyone in the chain (ie Oligarchs) were making money so we allowed this house of cards to almost bankrupt our entire system and bailed out the offenders.

I mean America has a mix of capitalism and socialism and the European countries certainly do so no

I need to get to my computer and get off my phone. You bring up a very interesting perspective. I’ll get to it tomorrow

I think you almost have it right.
Industries dont use regulations to protect themselves. They use lawyers to use regulations to bludgeon competition. Find a regulation and the person/company with the most expensive lawyer is winning from it.

I was told that America's budget is like 35% military while all those socialist countries in Europe struggle to spend 1% on military, so America provides their global security as a relic of WWII and they get to provide all kinds of cool social programs instead of spending it on security. Is that right? It's just what I heard on Fox News. I would prefer to be corrected on this. As I said before, I'm here to learn.

The market makes clearinghouses. Not politicians.
And 2-4 are still happening today.
The fed shouldn't have bailed out anyone. None of it. Let it burn and a healthier company will buy up the pieces. It is the way that it is supposed to work.
And fraud is illegal. Many banker should have gone to jail.

My perspective is that simply capitalism works but the laws can’t be subverted by the rich and politicians. Im as free market as I gets but dawgfan is right in that we have essentially Oligarchs subverting and controlling the system.
Don’t get me started on the damage the Fed has done. They alone can be traced back to most problems we have.

Screw our security.., Education should be free. Debt should be paid by cooperations. That’s what I believe.
