To keep the bullshite out of the CV thread, let's talk about socialism here.

I don't know much about socialism. I don't trust Wikipedia or Fox news to educate me, so I'm hoping some dawgrant socialists can show me the path.

I honestly want to learn.

Also known as socialism fricks up capitalism and communism is there to bail it out.

It’s different from communism. Most people use them interchangeably, but there is a major difference and true communism has never been achieved (not just never successful, it’s never been put into action).

Socialism is a political and economic theory that believes the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be regulated by the people, however, individuals can still own certain properties (land, houses, clothing, cars, stuff like that)
Back during the Industrial Revolution, when the workers were barely scraping by and the warehouse owners were wealthy as shite, it was believed that the workers would take over control of production and distribute it evenly, eliminating classes....the basis of socialism was founded on this idea that it would make everything better, because the people would give to each what each needed

If you want to know about actual socialism the first thing you should know is no American presidential candidate is actually socialist. Overall America leans to the right of the political spectrum. A guy like Benrie would be considered a left leaning moderate in Europe

TL/DR Sounds good until you run out of other people’s money...

Good luck getting an advocate for socialism that actually understands what it is.

Sugar coated,, as opposed to communism where the state owns all business, with socialism the individual still owns property but the state owns and controls resources, manufacturing, and other sectors of the economy with the goal of more equally distributing the productivity of the nation among all citizens.

In short, the govt owns the oil wells and proceeds, you may be a doctor, but the government is your sole payer and fixes pricing, if you make money...the govt takes a bunch of it for the common good. Likewise they assume control of any industry they see fit to better distribute the proceeds to all citizens. They say there are still democratic elections as well.

In reality, govt always expands upon their power and controls who has power and wealth. Once these people get control...they expand their power and democratic elections are a joke. They assume control of more and more until they implode. There are countless examples where this has happened. See Venezuela.

In Europe the countries touted as examples of successful democratic socialist countries aren’t socialist at all. They’re free market countries that have managed to fund healthcare and eduction through heavy taxes on a small, homogenous hard working population that all contributed to the “cause”. As their populations have grown with less productive members of society they’ve backed off these policies as they frankly don’t work. Communists solve this problem with work camps and forced labor...socialists slowly move toward this as well. They also block immigration as they can’t afford to provide services to non workers. It’s a tenant of socialism to control borders...which is interesting given the crew that is pushin for it now.

That’s exactly how and why Hitler became of fame. Germany’s economy was in ruins... he brought prosperity and created hope. Many historians have twisted his beliefs and somehow developed a new philosophy known as progressivism. There’s clearly a difference, but politicians will never admit it.

Capitalism is where one man exploits another, socialism is vice verse.

The evil of socialism is the control it gives to the government over our lives. I will take freedom and crony capitalism.

This is what pisses me off.

Our problem go straight to an erosion of having a moral society that raises people to do what’s right. My dad worked in State govt his whole career and he did what was right...no grey area. That was how he was raised. The culture has changed to where that’s a cliche....or maybe it was just him.

If I was a politician...there’s no way I could sleep at night doing some of the shite these p9liticians do. Or ignore their responsibilities to the detriment of their country.

There will always be back room deals, but what we have now are people that do nothing but use their power to feed their greed and I don’t know that we will ever get back.

I’m about 4 deep in the Buffalo Trace...so TIFWIW.

You slept through macro economics, didnt you?

Capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than any other method.

Bill Gates has done more for humanity than any politician ever could.

Tell me about it.

They always run out of enough people to murder before they can establish communism. Happens every time.

Capitalism isn't without its faults however. Left unregulated the country becomes an oligarchy which one could make a case is what America is right now
