Thank God for Greg Sankey. Denying the university's request to play our Spring game in Little Rock is a no-brainer. The War Dump is a blight on our state/conference. It pains me to see our student athletes waste their talents in that eyesore. Hopefully, all Razorback football games will be moved away from Little Rock soon.

Looks like we're trying to have our cake and eat it too. Honestly, I have no dog in the hunt as I plan to never watch a Razorback football game in person for the foreseeable future.

I guess that makes me part of the problem, huh?

I have a sneaking feeling that behind the scenes Sam and Hunter probably either secretly lobbied Sankey or wanted this decision.

I know that's how I would do it. It's embarrassing we play any games there...and I'm from south Arkansas and have been to far more games in my life at WMS than Fayetteville.

I know the spring game is a huge recruiting weekend and of course, you can't recruit at little Rock. It's moronic.

I just hope that this may finally be a way out of the whole deal. The SEC can be the "bad guy" and implement some rule that basically targets shitty off campus "home" games.

They should make a rule that basically says, unless its an extenuating circumstance or a neutral site game, you can't play home games further than a certastuon mileage from campus...or just target WMS directly and say it's not up to sec standards period.

I tend to want to agree with you. I'm not a conspiracy theory type of guy, but you don't say something like "it's a part of our campus/university" then in the same breath basically say it's not a home game.

I personally don't know of anyone that wants to see the UA play in Little Rock, the facilities and the crowds are simply better in Fayetteville now.
However all that being said, there is no need to be a dick about WMS. It may be hard for some to believe, but WMS doesn't exist solely to host the Razorback football team, and for a venue of its age and size it will continue to have many uses for the people of Arkansas.

Nobody here has been a dick. And thankfully a building doesnt have feelings. I am partly joking about it being a blight but I am serious that we look backwards to keep using it for hogs games when states like LA, MS, and AL all stopped playing in old off campus stadiums long ago.

Agreed playing in Little Rock holds back Razorback football. The age of Razorback football and WMS is past, everyone needs to let go of it and enjoy the top notch facilities in Fayetteville.
WMS does have a future and one that will in some capacity include college football, just not Razorback football.

I love War Memorial games. frick you snowflakes who whine about how it’s not as “nice” as Fayetteville. It’s a fricking football game. I was there for both Miracle on Markhams. I was there for tMercy Knee. When Razorbacks have a decent squad and it’s a big game, the stadium is one of the toughest to play in. Ask Mike Leach and Lou Holtz. The only Fayetteville game that I’ve been to that compares to War Memorial at its best was 2010 Alabama. It’s a part of Arkansas football, it makes Arkansas football more accessible to fans throughout the state. Arkansas football is not just the northwest corner of the state and wine and cheese in skyboxes.

You are sounding like the snowflake here my man. My first game was WMS. One of my most vibrant childhood memories is watching the Miracle on Markham and rubbing it in my LSU uncle's face who was talking shite the entire game. It was awesome. But it's time to go.

It's 2020. We don't need it anymore to give access 'to the entire state' when I can literally watch every single Razorback football, basketball, and baseball game from Timbuktu if I wanted.

What it boils down to is people desperately clinging to the nostalgia of their childhood and pining for better days. Those times are gone. Give it up and let's move into the modern day football landscape.

A blue collar dad in south Arkansas wanting to take his family to a Razorback football game can make a day trip to Little Rock. Fayetteville games are much less affordable and doable for those families.

How about you give up your obsession with trying to take away a great Arkansas football tradition. Oh but it’s 2020 and we’re now in the “modern landscape!” War Memorial isn’t as pretty and modern and I need to be pampered when I go to football games! Wahhh.

I couldn't give less of a shite if we played in a cow pasture. The fact is that Little Rock games create distinct disadvantages in recruiting and financially in a college landscape that's increasingly about the bottom line. Many other rural southern teams have had similar traditions for the same reason as Arkansas. And all of those teams have moved away from it.

The city closed down the golf course and WMS is only getting older. Sorry, but the tradition is dying out. Cry about it, get mad about, do whatever you need to get by. But like Bobby D once said "you better start swimming or you'll sink like a stone...because the times they are a'changin".
