One-time transfer exemption for all sports

ACC joins B1G in support of one-time transfer for all sports
This is gonna be a frikkin free-for-all. Good luck building depth. The other P5 conferences are forcing the SEC's hand. How do we feel about this?

One-time is too few.
As long as they want to consider them amateur student-athletes, then they shouldn't limit the number of transfers by making players sit out for a year.

I agree with this rule and the SEC is going to look pretty dumb if they don’t adopt it imo.
Assistant coaches are making more money and moving around from school to school more than ever before, with many of them waiting until right after early signing day or national signing day to do so once these recruits are locked in.
These student athletes should be given the same opportunity at least once imho

The SEC should support it and push for to adopt it immediately.

If it helps with parity, then what's the problem?

Nothing would even change until the NCAA agrees to lift the moratorium on transfers, but if the P5 conferences want it then they will get it.

With the recent transfers that hired an attorney and got a waiver for no real good reason I’m all for it. NCAA just not consistent with the waivers. Just open it up. An 18-21 year old kid should have the right to change his mind on what school he/she wants to attend.

There is entirely too much "if coaches can do it, why can't players do it" bellyaching going on in today's sports. There should be no wonder why so many athletes have an entitled attitude.
If players want to be able to leave, they should be able to do so if they are willing to pay for it. You might not like it or think it's not enough, but there are buyouts/consequences for adults leaving. If these kids want to be treated like adults, pony up.

Who was the last coach that actually had to personally pay his buyout?

Might as well get on board and take it out of the hands of the NCAA with the bs waivers. It's already essentially happening. The NCAAs waiver exemptions don't make sense anyway. Martell and Fields should've never been eligible last season yet others were turned down. Makes no sense. Take away the subjectivity of it.
As for depth, your school will just take transfers as well to fill the holes.
The biggest issue will be the 25 man initial counter rule. Are they going to abolish transfers from counting against them? If not then tampering will be out of control as schools will start including transfers on their recruiting board. Also if schools, like UCONN currently, have mass exodus' of transfers how do they get total scholarships on a competitive level with a 25 man counter limit? I think UCONN has had 26 kids leave.

Or, you dont lie to recruits. Not sure why some of you want coaches to yield all the power.

It won't. It will do the opposite. It will allow the best players on mid level college teams to transfer to the top teams who have a weak position group. This will only serve as a way to supplement the top teams around the country (money programs).

You will also see a lot of talented players transfer away from top teams because they don't want to wait an extra year or two for more playing time. You'll see some players go to better teams, but you'll see a lot more players go to worse teams.

Grad transfer rule was the goat. Everything else is trash. Lots of football recruiting classes will be waistline a spot on guys who leave after 1 year.

I agree actually
Because the NCAA is so biased with whom they allow and who they don't that it doesn't make sense at all.
How some of these Basketball dudes got approved and Vanover didn't at Arkansas astounds me....

Lets do it. Its not like Gus has quality depth anyways. Maybe with transfers he can finally field a decent starting OL.
