Thermostat Usage

I currently have a roommate who gets upset if we even turn on the thermostat in our house.
I ask you, oh wise SECR OTB, what is your thermostat set to in the Winter and in the Summer?
Currently I’m sleeping in 62 degrees because Scrooge McCuck won’t let us use the heat because “you can put on more clothing”.
My ideal range is 68 in the winter and about 73-74 in the summer.

It’s time to wrest control of the thermostat from your mom. You live there, too, dammit. And it’s probably a little warmer upstairs and out of the basement. Maybe she’ll let you move into your old bedroom.

We leave ours on 68 year round.

It’s not that bad once you get under the covers, but showering in the morning is a race to and from the bathroom. I feel like Bear Grylls after he takes a dunk in a freezing river.

It’s actually KSGamecock. We’re filming a real world type show for the streaming service that chicken is starting in the Fall.

If I move out now then the show is canceled

65 in the winter and I usually turn it down at night from 75 to 72 overnight in the winter.

I keep mine set for 66 in the winter and 74 in the summer. My Thermostat is internet connected though so I can change it with the app on my phone or through Alexa if I need a temporary change like being too cold.
Last 2 months I've had $50 electric and gas utility bills. Well worth just putting on some long sleeves.

It’s like Madea meets A Shot of Love with Tila Tequila.

May I suggest putting a thermostat lock box on it or even better switching to a wi-fi thermostat. Let him change it and then use your phone to change it back without them knowing.

That’s like textbook range man. Depending on outdoor ambient your unit shouldn’t have to work too hard to maintain those temp ranges, in fact a fair amount of my customers go with the inverse thermostat settings, 68* cooling and 75* heat but this is the midlands of SC so your climate may vary a little bit.
Is it the utilities that they bitch about? If so get someone to clean your AC or Heat Pump coils and clean the burners on your gas furnace if you got it. should see a noticeable increase in system efficiency ESPECIALLY on systems old enough to use R-22 in them.
