You know what league has, shockingly, gotten a huge pass for their general shittiness (especially in the bottom half)?
The ACC
KenPom
4. ACC (+11.69)
5. SEC (+11.64)
2. Duke
9. Louisville
17. Florida State
48. NC State
50. Syracuse
53. Virginia
62. Notre Dame
66. Virginia Tech
80. Pitt
83. Georgia Tech
84. Clemson
89. North Carolina
105. Wake Forest
115. Miami
162. Boston College

Eh, we will still get less than 7 but yes basketball is down as a whole. There was a path to seven imo before the SEC/Big 12 challenge. Although I believe we did fine as a whole, we probably needed to win the thing to have a chance at 7.
Right now you have to look at who has played who and where. Some teams have a pretty easy schedule from here on out.

The ACC
Yeah, we can look at numbers all day but perception is still a big thing in College Basketball and while the SEC has made strides, we still have a long way to go.

We also don't have an elite team - and that hurts, especially when you combine it with perception.
There are 6-7 NCAA Tournament 4-10 seed level teams in the league and then another 3-4 solid NIT teams, but there really isn't a true national title contender team.......and so a lot of folks just kind of look and go eh the SEC is back to sucking again.

The ACC is shite this season and you're right that no one is talking about it
Really, every major conference is pretty shitty this season. The Big 10 is deep and will break bid records, but even it lacks a real elite team and is just a collection of mediocre teams for the most part

It does kind of come down to that fact - there just aren't any elite teams. Not even just a few, there aren't any. At all.
Saturday was the first time I've truly watched Kansas play an entire basketball game since that opener with Duke. That teams is extremely flawed. Duke has lost to both Stephen F Austin and Clemson. Gonzaga is Gonzaga.
Honestly, the most complete team I've seen by far is Baylor. That is a damn good basketball team.

Kansas is very good with Azubuike but if he gets into foul trouble at any point in the tourney, they're in trouble
How I'd rank teams this season would probably be
1. Duke
2. Baylor
3. Kansas
4. Dayton
5. Gonzaga
This might be the year a mid-major wins it. I'm not a believer in SDSU, but the reason mid-majors usually lose deep in the tournament is lack of elite, NBA talent, and Dayton has the best NBA prospect of any contender

They are impressive. IMO, they are the clear #1.
