UGA isn't the right fit for Coley. If he flies I wish him the very best against everyone but us.
That being said the staff won't miss a beat. With or without him the 2020 staff is better than 2019.

I think the pay can be compounded by Texas’ lack of a state income tax but I wonder how much more A&M would plan to pay him
In practical application, it doesn't end up working out like that. Most states with no state income tax end up offsetting that with things like toll roads (of which there are a lot in Texas), and higher fees on things like car tags, property taxes, real estate purchases, etc.

Yep, the cost of living in the Athens area is definitely much lower compared to progressive College Station.

State taxes are deductible from federal taxable income so he'll pay more federal.

Well... yes/no... The new rules from last year made you pick between property/income, with a cap at 10k deductible... At his salary and what I imagine his house looks like, he's hitting the cap on either end I have to assume.

He will not be OC at Texas A&M. Co-OC at best. Most likely TE coach.

I knew they did more to offset it and my salary is meager in comparison but I do recall paying a helluva lot less to the govmint when I lived in TN vs now but I’m also in Fulton Co now so of course I’m jaded

I lived in Texas for a few years and it was a lot more expensive than GA (Woodstock). The no State Income Tax thing is pure PR. Property taxes, sales taxes, toll roads, etc more than make up for it. Govt gets you one way or the other.

Something to also consider, is Jimbo already offered him a huge deal and OC that Coley turned down to remain a position coach here, two years ago. Maybe three years ago. What's to say Coley doesn't stay and embrace his demotion? He always felt like an interim OC anyway.

Dawgnation and SI both say he’s officially gone to Texas A&M.

Good guy. Great recruiter. Wish him well.

I was hoping he’d stay on in some capacity but I really think he was overwhelmed this year and felt the burn of a hot seat.
CKS is putting out a top 5 program...I’m not sure UGA will keep many coaches for more than a couple years if he keeps up this pace.
