We have some armchair QB's that have excellent 20/20 vision when it comes to hindsight. They make the right call every time when looking back on decisions on the past.

So, I was thinking...with Brock Vandegriff and Caleb Williams out there at QB for 2021, whcih one should the coaches take?

Vandegriff, by most accounts wants to get his recruitment over before his senior year starts and that could come as early as February.

However, Williams is the flashier runner and will probably go at least a little longer with his recruitment.

Should the coaches go with Vandegriff and get a "bird in the hand", or should they wait on Williams and take a chance on losing a true running QB, but also could lose Vandegriff, too?

Anybody can answer, but I am particularly interested to see what oyer Nostradamus fans have to say. Let's see if you are willing to go on record.

I am willing to guess that our Monday morning QB crew will refuse to answer. They wouldn't want to lose their perfect record of making the right call after the fact.

ETA
FTR, I would go with Vandegriff, even though I do have some reservations about him.

Exactly the same. Check what I just posted in the recruiting thread.

Assuming I’m Kirby:

Depending on the Mathis medical/transfer issue and how high the ceiling is for Beck, I would quietly tell both qb’s that GA intends to take 2 QBs this year, but only 1 5*. First to commit gets the spot.

I would not slow play BV if he is ready to commit. Modern recruiting classes are built around bell cow recruits. GA needs to shore up in state recruiting. Getting BV on board early would allow him to recruit others to the 2020 and 2019 classes and send a message to GA high school football.

The only reason I would turn BV away is if I believed he could not run the offense Monken wants to run.

1. Whichever one seems to be more locked in on Georgia.

2. If both then the dual threat which would be Williams

Take BV now although I think Williams would have a bigger impact. Can’t get caught without one this year.

Vandagriff is every bit a dual-threat as Williams, just not as much top-end speed.

They both have cannons for arms, great pocket agility and awareness, and can run well and make all the throws.

BV is more adept at running through progressions and is more accurate.

CW tends to tuck and run if his primary target is covered.

BV is prime Steve Young/Aaron Rodgers.

CW is Dak Prescott/Deshawn Watson.

BV fits Monken’s system better. We are not moving to a read-option scheme. It’s pass-heavy with a lot of receivers running routes. You want the more accurate QB who can go through every progression over the guy who likes to tuck and run more often.

id go after Vandegriff.

However... you know the best laid plans never work out ..

you'd like Beck to back up Newman in 20

Start in 20 & 21 with Vandegriff backing up taking over in 22 & 23... with hopefully Washington backing up in 23 and taking over in 24...

but i doubt it plays out that , way... but it has to be the plan I would think.... if they all play like 5 starts.
