Why was Bo Pelini (Former LSU DC) fired from Nebraska?

He was fired for similar reasons as richt; the fanbase and administration thought they'd reached their ceiling and wanted to/could achieve more with someone else. It happens all the time all over the country. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doens't. In nebraska's case it absolutley didn't.

Only thing I remember is him being an a-hole to everyone, but pretty short-sighted of Nebraska to fire him with his record all things considered. Kind puzzling like they fired Frank Solich. Maybe they thought they were still destined to be what they were under Osborne

He openly talked shite to the admin and boosters one too many times.

Same gripes and shite talk that happens everywhere behind closed doors but he did it publicly. If he was winning championships no problem. He wasn't.

I mean he lost 4 games every single year too over a 7 year span. It was program stagnation. Nebraska fired Solich not long before Pelini who won 10+ games 4/6 seasons there, including firing him after going 10-3 his last season. Nebraska admin and fans had a very high viewpoint on themselves after the 90s.

In retrospect losing 4 games a year at Nebraska is way better than what they've had since then (7-8 losses), Nebraska is just a dead program. Cant drug up their players and play shady games with non and partial qualifiers like they used to any more. Plus, kids just dont want to go to middle of nowhere Nebraska from the talent rich areas any more really.

Pelini ultimately got canned for 3 reasons:
1. Program stagnation, 4 losses every year for 7 years
2. Dude was a straight a-hole to everyone while there and wasn't winning "enough" to be
3. Nebraska still thought they were an elite program and 9-10 win seasons wasn't enough

meh, he also never won fewer than 9 games in 7 years at Nebraska and won his division 4 straight years, which was a hell of a lot better than Callahan before him and Riley after him. I just think that's a really stupid reason to fire someone given the circumstances. The power brokers at Nebraska just couldn't see the forest for the trees

There are a ton of AD's all over the country that would be very happy with winning 9-10 games a year and they also have opted to not hire him. There has to be something to him. I mean he hasnt had as much success at youngstown state but his record before that speaks wonders about his coaching ability, especially considering what nebraska has done since his departure.
