The second fiddle school in a state that doesnt have as much in state talent as its neighbors.

Expectations are lower at Vandy. Less pressure.

Mizzou, Kentucky and Arky are all flagship schools that are theoretically easier to build at.

Without a doubt

Vandy might be worse from a standpoint of potential for winning, but if you're going to get paid millions of dollars to lose and have your career reputation trampled on, then at least with Vandy you get to in Nashville instead of Stankville

So quality of life gives Vandy the edge over State

this is just wrong. we might not be at LA or TN levels, but we’re miles above Arkansas. and the MS all stars have beaten AL all stars for 3(?) straight years

Someone logs onto this website and posts this garbage take at least once a day. It’s just not true Mississippi has plenty of talent. Auburn and Alabama and LSU have just been taking it for a while. That’s why Kiffin’s staff is recruiter heavy

South Carolina is a sneaky pick considering the rise of Clemson.

Yea it’s a terrible job. It only resurrected Jackie Sherrill’s career and earned Dan Mullen a job at one of the nation’s premier programs. And all they had to do was be competitive and make bowl games and threaten a special season occasionally.

Being the Head Coach at the worst school in the SEC means you are going make a lot of money. And for the record, Vandy is the worst by far.

This is true. We get what we want, when we want it.

Let me add. You can’t have key players suspended for academic fraud and have your starting QB and LB fistfight on the eve of your bowl game, in which you lay a by then familiar turd on offense and lose to a physically overmatched Louisville team.

But I think most coaches can avoid those pitfalls.

I think Miss. State is a stepping stone for coaches. If they win there, better opportunities come along. Mullen is a good example.

Mullen is the only State coach to leave for a better job since Daryl Royal in 1955

They've actually played in an SEC Championship game. Their in-state rival has not.
