When will he crack the starting five?
To me, he is our best player. He has done great coming off the bench but, he deserves to start.

He fouls too much to start. Needs to mature a bit but love his game otherwise.
Shifty. Sunvold gave him a 'hes really good' during game.

He’s one of the few who can create his own shot. He’s still an unpredictable mess out there.

I mean he played a pretty solid game today against a quality opponent.

He had flashes of good.
Watching him take the inbounds pass and try to spin out of the double team in the corner for the last 5 minutes was comical.

The turnovers are maddening and they come in bunches. The offensive upside is definitely there. Do you think this staff can get help him get that part of his game to the floor?

You would hope that they don’t coach that aggressiveness out of him. Aggressive players have turnovers.

It's the vision and game IQ that needs work. Knowing how his guys are moving to create lanes. Knowing where the lanes are going to be so a full throttle acceleration isn't required to get to the hole. Pinson should have 8-10 FT attempts per game.
The question remains, can this staff help him get that to the floor? Geist's improvement would suggest a maybe.

Not a single college basketball player is averaging 8 or more free throw attempts per game.
The coaches are limited in how they use the guards because of the fouls that Tilmon gets. Both Dru and Pinson are good in the pnr. But to run that correctly you need shooters on the backside and a big that you trust as the screener.

Lol. You are laughably bad at this.
NCAA FT Attempts Per Game
Even if you remove the players that have played in a limited # of games there's 17 players averaging over 7 per game.
Pinson has that kind of acceleration to attack but either isn't being allowed or coached to do so. He pulls up early and hopes to float one in or cranks a pass that no one other than Tilmon can handle.

I see you are using FoxSports as your reference. That’s your first mistake. The second is thinking Pinson is the kind of scorer that could draw that many fouls. Maybe if Cuonzo can pull Josh Christopher out of Cali, that’s the only chance of having a guy that can draw that many fouls.

Your mistake is routinely talking out of your arse and making shite up. Nice attempt at moving the goalposts.

Good catch. It’s actually 19 players over 7 FTs per game. FoxSports was wrong.

Pinson is currently averaging 3.5 FTA per game, I guess getting to the line 3.5 more times per game is too much to ask out of the most explosive player on the team.

Yes he’s not that type of player.

In his defense the refs swallowed the whistle in the final minutes. That always mystifies me how players are allowed to swipe and pillage for the ball in the final two minutes. My favorite part is yesterday when the trapping man put two hands on him (automatically a foul by today’s rules) and the ref points at his feet all heroically. Love hero reffing.

I will agree with this. There were a couple plays when Illinois was trying to get a foul and the refs took quite a while to call it. On the fourth or fifth slap on the arm, they called it.

I posted an interesting study a while back that showed that teams that were behind had fewer fouls called on them. The author suggested it might be based on some American idea of fairness.
