So far that is the BIGGEST reason I like him.

LINK

I am an old guy and too many times I have seen the new coach move in and wipe everything clean and start over-promising when he gets his players it will be good but suffer in the long run.

Barry did this, dumping Mauk on a video two years old, throwing his weight around, and it didn't work.

Now Barry goes to Arkie where Morris did the same thing, and Morris gets beat by WKU by the QB he tossed off the team and Morris gets fired leaving a major rebuild in Arkie land, that Barry and Sam got to fix.

Smart at Georgia took Richt's players and won a National Championship.

I am glad Coach Drink sees the talent.

I heard the interview and the other thing that stuck out to me was he plans on leaning on and learning from Gary Pinkel.

He's smart and humble enough (unlike his predecessor) to recognize the man who blazed the trail before him might be a good resource to mine for advice. It doesn't mean he has to take it all, but there's wisdom in a multitude of counselors.

The more I hear him speak the more I love the hire.

The other Drink quote which perked my ears up and I should have mentioned was quarterbacks come in all shapes and styles, but what he prizes among their traits is accuracy.

He listed five overall traits he looks for (intelligence, leadership, etc.) but noted how Kurt Warner and the GSOT was fueled by Warner's accuracy, not his arm strength.

Drinkwitz actually listed leadership as his No. 1 quarterback trait, but mentioning accuracy as a close second is another indicator that he knows what he's doing.

It is laughable considering how many inaccurate quarterbacks there are.

And every coach thinks they can fix them until they can't.

For wide receivers, he looks for guys who can catch and get open. He wants big O-linemen who can block, too.

The oline is a complete rebuild. Replacing 3 of 5 starters and a new approach isn't a reloading process. That doesn't mean they can't put a competent product on the field next year.

he's not saying they don't need a rebuild, he's just saying he doesn't feel like it

I don’t care if it is a total rebuild one of the biggest pet peeves Of mine are coaches who throw players they didn’t recruit under the bus. Scott Frost takes zero accountability on himself and it seems childish every press conference.

Well this makes it sound like it is a complete rebuild.

While I'm not quite ready to give up on Scott and Knox, it won't shock me if one or both transfer after spring ball. Both are behind the curve in several areas and Scott is a shithead that can't tune out defenders.

Frost and the AD both believed that they would turn around a team that was crap up front on both sides of the ball in two years. Their fan base was dumb enough to believe it.

He's saying what he has to say. I really like the hire, but we have to see what happens on the field.

But it sure is nice to see the enthusiasm. BO was a flat bore most days.

I don’t expect him to say any different, but it is a rebuild. Not a Arkansas level endeavor, but still some problem areas on the roster and we are going to lose several players to transfer. It just hasn’t happened yet

Which is fine. The last thing we need is people that don’t want to be here poisonings the locker room.

If he can just keep the wheels on next year, and then start progressing from there then everyone should be happy with that

Mizz SEC I could not have said it better
