Has there ever been a successful, obese NCAA FBS/D-1A football head coach?

Mark Mangino took Kansas to an Orange Bowl and a final No. 7 ranking one year, but he ended with a final 50-48 record, with a dismal 23-41 record in the Big 12 and 4 losing seasons out of 8 seasons total (including bowl game losses).

Charlie Weiss ended his career at 41-49 after stints at Notre Dame and Kansas. He took Notre Dame to only one 10 win season and actually had a losing season there. His career ended, literally and figuratively, at Kansas.

Bret Bielema was fired at Arkansas for going 29-34 over 5 seasons (11-29 in the SEC) and never winning more than 8 games while producing 2 losing seasons. His prior stop at Wisconsin yielded 3 consecutive Rose Bowl trips before departing for Arkansas. There’s a good argument that Arkansas ruined Bret in the coaching and waistline departments. Rumors are swirling that he will eventually replace Les Miles at Kansas.

Are these indicators of how fat coaches pan out? Is Arkansas headed down the path to further football irrelevance with Sam Pittman? Is it coincidence that ArKANSAS hired Sam Pittman? Should Arkansas have used BMI in its hiring criteria? Can one program handle two tubby coaches in short order? Will Sam Pittman eventually end up at Kansas? These are very important questions that need answering.

Why couldn't you post a bunch of pictures of sexy women?

You had to choose short, fat men.

Closet Aggy?

This thread is about coaching, not titties. This is a serious thread. Man titties just happen to be a part of it.

My threads are quality, unlike yours which are quantity.

Besides, I am honestly worried about Arkansas. I just don’t think it can handle another porker eating through the boosters’ funds like the last guy.

How many cows had to die to make those sleeves? How many sheep had to die to make the chest and back? How many bluebirds had to die to make the dye for the wool?

Awful thoughts.

The vast majority of obese coaches fail. Players hardly ever respect men who have no self respect.

I sure as shite wouldn't have played as hard for my coach if he was some morbidly obese slob.

Back in 2007 I think, College Gameday was at the Mizzou vs Kansas game. I saw a sign that said “Mizzou is thinking Big 12 Title, Mangino’s thinking Arby’s” still one of my favorite signs ever.

I figured out the common denominator. Teams with Kansas in their name hire fat guys who don’t pan out.
