Pitt almost won at Penn State this year and knocked Penn State out of playoffs 2-3 years ago when PSU won the conference.
Your projection that Clemson won't win in the future doesn't make any sense because winning titles makes it easier to win more titles. Clemson has won titles with two different coaches decades apart.
this projection makes as much sense as saying Clemson had not shot to get Carman Jackson.

I’ve resolved myself to the inevitable that OSU will remain #1 and I’m fine with it because I think LSU really is #1, and whoever we end up playing we will have to beat and earn it.
Now, there’s no doubt in my mind that there’s a large bias in the committee for the B10, and Coach Day making it a point to lobby for it immediately after their conference game ended is almost scripted to me in order to get the ball rolling in that direction, but let me say this. There’s nothing guaranteeing they beat OU either. Clemson is a tough opponent, make no mistake about it, but if my Tigers really are #1, then we should beat them, and then take on the winner and beat them as well, because that’s what #1’s do.

Ohio State has only won 2 titles since 1970.
Desegregation has obviously made it more difficult for OSU and other so called bluebloods like Michigan to win titles because southern universities have started winning more.
really both of OSU's two recent titles were flukes.
the last OSU title team was beat by a mediocre Va Tech team in Columbus.

the cocky ones are typically the ones who didn't attend the university.
that kind of goes for every fan base.
but a lot of Clemson sidewalk fans will brown nose SEC teams like crazy.
i've seen a lot of LSU fanboys say LSU will boatrace Clemson but these same people will say Clemson fans are cocky. it is pretty weird

Ah yes. The 2002 title game. Where 37 of the 43 starters on the field were drafted. Where everyone brings up the pass interference call in overtime, yet chooses not to bring up the earlier bad call on Gamble. Total fluke. And the 2014 playoff. Where Ohio state got in fair and square by beating Wisconsin 59-0. And then soundly beat Bama, and then blew-out Oregon all the while having 4 turnovers.
