Watching the game against auburn tonight since I missed it Saturday and this interception return just happened
Why throw the ball?
Waddle was a one man wrecking crew

Because crazy shite happens on the Plains.
It's science.

My only thought is when the field is shortened everyone stacks the box. Had we actually not just let the DE through unblocked and MAC isn’t getting hit as soon as he rolls it may have been successful. Najee and Waddle were absolutely going off. Thank God Waddle is back next year.

Give me Najee 4 times from the 2. Even if you don't score they will have to drive the ball 98 yards.

Sark coached to win Saturday.
I got no problem with it.

That's a good question. Our Falcons fans warned us about Sark doing that stuff. I would have lined Slade Bolden up at QB or just let Najee jump.
I'm an idiot on the couch though

We've had problems on obvious short yardage rushing situations the past couple of years. And honestly we've run that type of play a lot in that situation in the past. Heck the Upchurch TD in the Iron Bowl our 1st title season was a similar play.

If Jones uses the field and throws to the sideline it's a touchdown.

it was a perfect play call. Just poor/unfortunate execution.
Recall that this was about the fourth consecuctive play from inside the 10 yard line (AU had 2 PI penalties) Teh couple of other run attempts were jammed at the LOS.
This play, if nothing else, was set up on 1st down to open up the defense.
The biggest mistake made in the play was Kaho (normally a LB) was lined up at FB and totally ignored the block on the charging DE for AU. Had he even just rubbed him, Mac gets around him and cake walks into the endzone. Or he could have thrown it to Najee who had his man beat (thus how the luck of his getting that INT) by two or three steps. Worst case was an incomplete pass. But when Kaho ignored the block, Mac should have just eaten the ball. But to his defense, even in that split second he could see Najee was wide open.

Like I said in my original post, I watched the game for the first time this evening, think it was ESPNU, but not sure? Anyway, it just was like a reminder of when Alabama was moving the ball on LSU in 2010 or 2011 (whenever that GOTC was played), then all of a sudden they dial up a halfback pass? Like then, I am asking why? You are moving the ball, think Saturday, wasn't it a 6 minute drive? But, moving the ball, why not just finish it off with something a little safer?
Look, I'm a LSU fan first of course, but Alabama has always been my second favorite SEC team. The play that was called just has me confused, you know?

That was a TD. The only reason why it turned into a pick six is because the DE was in Mac Jones’s face as soon as the ball was snapped, forcing him to throw it earlier than he wanted to. If he had had time, the ball is out in front of Harris instead of a little behind him and we take a 38-30 lead.
