The first call from Herman to potential offensive coordinator candidates figure to go to LSU’s Joe Brady, who is currently the receivers coach/passing game coordinator for the Tigers. Steve Emsminger is the offensive coordinator at LSU under Ed Orgeron, but there have already been reports LSU is ready to take Brady from a salary of $400,000 to $1.5 million with a co-offensive coordinator title.
Update by Chip Brown

Herman has identified a leading offensive coordinator candidate, and Texas will move quickly, following Friday’s regular-season finale against Texas Tech, to try to hire that person, sources said. That hire is not a slam dunk, because the leading candidate already has a job at a school that could take bold measures to keep him, sources said. The main target is LSU’s Joe Brady. The second target is USC’s Graham Harrell, who helped the Trojans to an 8-4 record despite quarterback injuries.

Not surprised. They’re gonna have a hard time keeping him.

Kind of cutthroat, but if I were Coach O I’d probably give Ensminger his walking papers or “staff reassignment” then force Texas to outbid me for Brady’s services as OC.

Why?? texas fans told me heading into the LSU/texas game that the horns had a much better staff top to bottom, front to back, offense and defense.
Why would they want to down grade?

So Texas and A&M can't keep their claws off LSU assistants? Chavis, Aranda, now Brady? If everything is so much bigger and better in Texas why do you losers keep reaching across the border?

The deal with Brady is already done it will not be announced until after the season. In fact it was leaked but then squashed. It’s 1.6 million in 2020, 1.8 in 2021 then he takes over as OC in 2022. Lots of bonus incentives and paid expenses.

Doesn’t Tom Herman call the offense? Or does he let his OC handle the play calling?

Texas is king of incorrect coaching info and invalid rumors.

And why would Brady hitch his star to a coach who is clearly on the hot seat? He will make at least as much as Texas is likely to pay, and have greater job security and long term options if he stays at LSU for a while. Herman may not make it through another season at Texas. Then again he might, but it is a high risk move for Brady and no real reason to do it.

I'll sign off on Aranda's resumé

Chip Brown “reports” whatever the big money donors tell him to print. So Brady is probably on their wish list, regardless of what Tom Herman thinks

LSU isn't letting Joe Brady leave. Bet the house on that.

Wait,
Herman is the offensive coordinator.
So if he hires Brady does he admit he is the problem?
