Did they not see the lack of progress on the field this year? Why would they want to play for a coach that couldn't get coach them right?

Players committing to coaches, not teams. Happens every coaching search.
What sucks is the early signing period. Miss that and you're really screwed in year 1.

This.
This is the standard series of events that occur in quite literally every coaching transition when the previous coach is fired.
The new coach will come in and evaluate the recruits, pursue some of the decommits and in some cases go after different players at several positions. Again, par for the course.

Recruiting is based mainly on rapport that is built on the first interaction and every interaction after. This generation of kids also dont understand what a commitment is.

Someone said that it was mainly Jeff Traylor and Justin Steppe that all these Texas kids were committed to.
Would like to see at least on of them retained.

Can we please get rid of SJ? Dude is a clown.

This is how things go. Not to mention our recruiting class wasn't exactly setting the world on fire before we canned Chad. Getting blown out by Western Kentucky will tend to do that.

I'm just hoping the next head coach is a hell of a recruiter and hires some elite recruiters like a Sam Pittman.

We were going to lose a lot of those recruits even if we kept Morris, not to mention more player transfers at the end of the year. The right coach will salvage some of these decommits, bring some of their commits along, and keep transfers to a minimum. We'll survive. Probably won't be a banner year by any means, but a good coach will hopefully minimize the damage.

Right. It is mighty hard to attract players when you can boast back to back 2 win seasons. "Be humiliated on your home field by G5 opponents!" is perhaps not the best selling point for recruits.

Half our fans were pumping sunshine after losses to SJSU and UK
Its not only 18 year old kids to blame here

If Pittman is hired he’ll bring some recruits with him, so it could probably work to our advantage at least in a few scenarios.

No kidding.
I seriously lost my appetite for like 36 hours after each one of those.

Wow, means you're still invested emotionally in the football.
Congrats, not many like you left currently.

I watch every horrible game. (Except for the aTm game this season for two reasons. #1 I can’t watch us lose to those homos again for a while and #2 my next door neighbor died in a helicopter crash here at Fort Polk shortly before that and I was taking care of his yard for his wife).
Eventually when we don’t suck again, it will feel that much better to have finally made it back.
My poor grandfather didn’t have the nerve to watch the Razorbacks from about ‘93 until he passed in ‘17. He still donated but..... well..... you know. The Razorbacks aren’t a good team to watch if you have ever had heart trouble.

Sam has made it clear he's not moving unless he's a HC. If HY hires him as HC, he'll be fired soon after.
DGAF what former players say, Sam isn't the answer.

I don’t disagree.
Whether or not Pittman would come unless it’s as a head coach, I don’t really care.
Not in my Top 5 anyway.

I watched the Biddy podcast and he had some nation writer, and a friend of Pittman's on today.
said that Pittman would absolutely be interested in coming back to Ar as HC or other position if the right HC were here... FWIW
