We’re on of the top research universities in the world. We’re going to use animals to cure MD. The end.

Luckily, James Cromwell has a limp dick and weak sperm, so no Hollywood actresses will need to have babies removed from their womb limb-by-limb after having their skulls crushed by the abortionist's forceps.

So Cromwell won't have to go protest that injustice.

Since 2012, a research laboratory at Texas A&M University has bred and experimented on dogs with a form of muscular dystrophy known as Duchenne. The disease, which affects one in every 3,500 human births, also occurs in dogs; specifically in golden retrievers. The lab has become a world leader in this research. But finding a cure has required researchers to breed sick dogs and sometimes euthanize them.

quote:

Duchenne is a degenerative and terminal disease that affects mostly young boys. Between 400 and 600 boys will be born with the disease in the U.S. this year. Most will require wheelchairs before they finish high school and will die before their 30th birthday.

Last year, the Texas A&M lab reached a significant milestone: a gene therapy approved for human clinical trials by the Food and Drug Administration. If the research advances to an effective treatment, it could spare future generations of boys and dogs alike.

Why goldens? They are an awesome breed. One more reason for me to want to skull frick TAMU.

ETA: Halfway kidding. If it leads to real advancement in medicine, the It’s worth the sacrifice. My dog growing up was a golden, so I have a special place in my heart for them.

This is unbelievably cruel. A&M sucks.

Well, THIS will be an interesting thread. Animal science is necessary, but all the ignorants will be all over this one.

Besides the needed research, nothing is wasted. A&M makes a little cash selling the euthanized dogs to Chinese buffet owners.

So this guy is racist against other dog breeds? Typical. We used plenty of pigs, rats, and mice while I was a post-doc. No one's going to protest for those.

I'll adopt one.
Wish it were some group other than PETA though.

Honestly we need to remember that we are humans, and they are animals. We have many innovations and breakthroughs in medicine from such things. It sucks, but it’s necessary.
