There aren’t many bright spots on defense.

A look at the starting lineup shows pretty much all seniors and freshmen.

A couple of linemen show promise, but there’s not a lot to look forward to next season on that side of the ball.

It would be awesome if most of the freshmen were showing signs of becoming great players, but I don’t think that can be said for more than 2-3 of them.

I’m hoping Saban torches the whole thing and rebuilds. Maybe some on the incoming freshmen will be alphas.

Who do you guys think will step up and play next season?

If Kaho can come on that would be nice. Baremore doesn’t need to come off the field and I’ll be happy to see Diggs go. Mayden might be worst safety of the Saban era but battle looked good so I guess that’s ok lol

If you burn down the defense and rebuild, Bama will have the same terrible defense next year. You never want to depend on true freshman on defense. Bama will be a lot better next year on defense as long as injuries don't cripple them again.

Injuries have killed the Bama defense the last 3 years.

How much better would the Bama defense been against Clemson last year with a healthy Buggs, Diggs, Lewis, Allen and Miller?

Or this year with a healthy Moses, McMillan and Ray?

Losing Moses was crippling. It would be like losing a McClain, Hightower, Mosley, Ragland or Foster from the great defenses of Saban earlier teams.

Whatever happens, I don't feel confident about the defense next year. This has been a trend for the defense. Seems like it just keeps getting worse with every passing year. And I don't buy it's because it's the O's. Auburn's D just this year has proven this is a myth. Those guys are out on the field a lot too due to bad offensive play.

It's a shame to have an elite O squandered by bad defensive play.

The days of shutting down offenses are over. This is just what football is now. We can be better than last night, but 2011 type stats aren't returning.

No. He is smart enough to see that our biggest problem is youth due to injuries. It will get better.

Go out in a blaze of glory -

1. Bring back Bo to coach the d-line. Multiple mistakes happen.
2a. Hope Will Muschamp gets canned. If he does, promise him as many of Golding's whiteboards as he wants to punch a hole through. If Muschamp isn't an option, go to 2b.
2b. Find James Willis (wherever he is) to coach linebackers.
3. Find a new cornerbacks coach.

You're welcome, America.

Unless they change the rules of football. Lock down defenses are not going to happen anymore.

We can definitely be better then last night though, but we need to set our expectations
