You could see it in his face when he was going in to run what was most likely ‘his package’. Gus kept him from going in and was an obvious punch to his gut.

Not suggesting it is a good reason. Just saying the disappointment on his face was clear and him potentially leaving is not surprising. I would hope he stays the rest of the year for the sake of his teammates. Can’t think of any positives to leaving in the middle of the season.

I can’t blame him for leaving right now. Bo Nix has been awful and Gatewood still hasn’t even seen a full series. Gus has shown zero faith in him. It has to be tough standing on the sideline watching Nix herp derp all over the field.

I don’t Gatewood has a lack of work ethic. Seriously the only thing that may make Gus take Nix out is a injury. I would say that’s possible since Nix is supposed to be a dual threat quarterback, but surprise, Gus thinks he’s a drop back passer. I can see Gatewood having lost all patience and hope with the QB situation from his point of view.

I don’t think Gus did right by him, and that’s that. I don’t like quitters though. Joey was loyal as a recruit for years, so this rumor isn’t like him. I still think Joey leaves after the season, and that’s okay.
