I was talking with someone about this earlier. We are royally fricked with our football program.

There is a gotdamn list of bad things that has happened to the football program. A program can only absorb so many of those bad things before they're just donezo. I don't know where our tipping point is before it's off to the abyss forever, but I feel we gotta be close.

Nutt was a Reggie Fish muff away from winning the SEC. Won 8+ games in 6 out of his 10 seasons with us. Missed a bowl game twice.

Yeah he couldn’t develop a passing game and was a grade A dork, but compared to what we’ve had the last 8 years he was great.

You've got to reset the MOJO. We did it Nolan and now we need to go get an Arkansas connected football coach that gets the State to reset the ghosts.

Butch would do, hell even kiff was born went to school in Fayetteville. Norvell from the state. Bill Clark can be an honorary native if he can even get us back to 6-7 wins.

I would take Nutt and Petrino off the list, but I see why you'd include them seeing how they left.

All it takes is getting the right coach. Teams other than the top 6-7 bluebloods rise and fall every few years. There's only a few that are ALWAYS good, and even they have bad stretches.

I don't know about any of this. I don't even have a clue what the answer is. I'd say you're going after a sure thing. Someone who has proven to win at a high level consistently. Younger the better. Which means big money. Can't afford any more mistakes but you can't skrimp either.

Mike Leach would be a good candidate, IMO.

I've come around to Leach. Has done well at two historically lesser programs. He would at least get us back to bowl games, and frick that would feel like a national championship right about now.

Well, I'm pretty sure we could ride him out of the hole we are in at a minimum. He may not win any SEC titles, but he would have us in the hunt for them periodically. My opinion of course. Could be wrong. Hell, I thought Morris was a good hire.

He could be 4-4 in a bad pac after tonight. Dont see the love affair. Would you really want him if his record declines from last year to this? He gets press and has good performance, but he wouldn't be much better than where we are right now. They are like Boise state 2.0 without their success.

Dude is in his first year as a HC after taking over for an extremely successful coach at a consistently good program. Needs more time.

Surely they won't hire an offensive coordinator to run this team. That's basically what we just did with Morris. They're gonna have to try and make another splash hire, IMO. A name that will energize the fanbase. They're gonna have to lay down some jack.

I get that. Look at the pac's fall from where it used to be. West coast football is dead.

He pulled both Texas Tech and Wazzu out of the abyss. The work he did at Tech is pretty impressive, IMO. I imagine Lubbock, Texas has to be one of the hardest places to recruit to in the country.

I'm not saying Leach would win any titles here. But he would put together a team not too dissimilar from Houston Nutt. Inconsistent, but able to reach up and punch above their heads often.

He only wins 62% of his games. But again, at miserable stops. He may do real well here. Who knows? He'd be a hell of a lot better than the dude we got now. Guaranteed.

I agree. However, he does scratch off the Arkansas connection pre-requisite. Would like to see him beat South Carolina and win the Cotton Bowl. Maybe he will parlay that into a bigger contract at Appy and then develop more into a coach we can hire down the road. The good thing about Drinkwitz is that his philosphy shouldn't be too far off of what Morris is failing at trying to implement. Won't be a wholesale change like we did previously.

I'm sure some will hold his coaching under Gus and/or in NWA against him but we have f'ers wanting to hire Houston Nutt back right now.

I think Bill Clark is probably the best get right now simply due to his ability to build from scratch.
