As someone who followed Cristobal since his days at FIU, I'll plass. Bama recruits itself, I'd rather have a hc that has strong x & o fundamentals. Also, I prefer my coaches from midwest or northeast for obvious reasons.

Matt Rhule is a stud. He's great on both defense and offense. Anytime you come across a coach like that, you know he's a winner. Belicheck was the same way.

Always been a fan of Matt Campbell, Ohio boy from Mt. Union (a program that produces them). He's winning at freakin' ISU, folks.

Darkhorse candidates: Joe Brady (even though he's from FLorida) and Jim Leonhard, dc of Wisconsin.

Hire a non-recruiter and see how long that lasts.

but not Nick Saban level recruiting. For that matter, not even Kirby Smart or Dabo Swinney level recruiting, though up till the last couple of classes not even Dabo was recruiting as well as Saban at Alabama level.

I don’t recall Bama being nearly this good of a recruiting school prior to Saban. I know Bama was bad and had sanctions but even in the early 90s a lot of those great players were just really well coached. Miami and Florida State type schools were where recruits went.
