Burks signs then this will be one heck of a DL haul. If Burks and Dre Butler can step up immediately in the fall it will help mightily. Behind Truesdell we are very light.

The others are big no doubt but the immediate need is the interior of the line, Newkirk and Miller only have a handful of tackles combined, and they had opportunities last year.

Lee says Brady Ward will make his announcement Tuesday.

Marcello and Jhead (the rivals Auburn board insider) think we have a blue shirt opportunity which means we can put him on scholarship in the fall without him counting against our 25.

Andy Staples on the blueshirt, for anyone wondering/ needing a refresher

quote:

So what is a blueshirt? In NCAA parlance, it’s a non-recruited player. The schools added this classification in case a team had 25 incoming scholarship freshmen and a surefire contributor just came in off the street as a walk-on. It allows the school to place that player on scholarship when practice begins without him counting against the 25.

The practical application of the blueshirt is to recruit a player without doing any of the things that put him on the books with the NCAA as a recruit. He can come in on an unofficial visit (he or his family pays for travel, lodging and food) but not an official visit (the school pays). The coaching staff can’t make an in-home visit. But the player can enroll with his class and be placed on scholarship on his first day of practice.

Why would a player accept this rather than a regular scholarship? Because he probably doesn’t have any offers at the level of program that is offering him a blueshirt. If he’s got Group of Five offers and a Power 5 school offers a blueshirt, he’s probably going to take it. To him, the process won’t be much different—especially if he lives near the school and can get there easily for unofficial visits—than it will be for his classmates with more conventional offers.

I thought he canceled his visit.

Doesn’t that end even the slightest hope?

I have been extremely casually following this stuff so I have no idea

Clearly when Larry Porter stayed late, they worked out the whole plan. He didn't actually cancel the visit, we told him not to take it, so as to not arouse UGA's suspicions and make Kirby go all scorched earth on him. He will be switching to us. It is all in the plan.

Clearly that is what happened. Clearly.

‘21 3* QB Luke Altmeyer has committed to FSU.

He’s the QB from Starkville whose recruiting has taken off this month

I don't see us taking any grad transfer OL this year. The few guys we would have been after, like the guy that left Vandy, have already committed elsewhere
FWIW there's still a long way to go in the Grad Transfer market. Some good ones still decide to leave their schools after Spring ball. The market thus will be potentially fertile til the end of May.

Why would I be? Even though I follow recruiting closely I don't get bent out of shape based on what recruits do or don't do.

I'm guessing post-spring depth charts will shake loose a new bunch of transfer OTs

KN CBed 2021 unranked cornerback Kameron Grays and HS teammate of Lee Hunter to Auburn tonight. He was offered today and obviously not offered just to get Hunter.
SIAP but all his JR highlights are at WR even though we are apparently recruiting him at Corner. Translation. He was so good at CB QBs didn't throw his way, thus no highlights.

does the in state group for next year help fill out in any big needs we failed to address this time?
Ther are no 4* or better OTs in Alabama for 2021 so unlikely.
