Tell me your feelings about the 60 yard FG decision.

Butler kicked a 62 yarder to beat Clemson in ‘84? Blankenship, who may be just under butler in UGA lore, wasn’t allowed to do that.
Wind was behind him. It was a chance for the team to show him they have all the faith in the world in him. Especially after a blocked kick.
Instead we ran a Hail Mary in which a 3 man rush almost caused Fromm who held the ball for 20 seconds to fumble the ball right there at the line of scrimmage.
You have the crowd chanting Rodrigo.
It was the perfect time to let him drill one. Do we ever see Hail Marys go our way?
Can someone explain this decision to me in a rational way?

Kick 6 was fresh in Kirby mind?
Still hate the decision

The same reason we called a timeout with 13 seconds left in the game instead of letting it run down to 2 seconds and then calling the timeout to try a 55 yarder.....our coach doesn’t know how to coach close games

It was a terrible decision and screwed with hot rods head.
8-13 seconds left, who cares, kick it.
Kirby has a Duelling with Donna streak in him.

AKA scared.
His brain blocked out probability and analytics and made a poor decision as a result.
Rod has earned those opportunities and it’s a goddamn shame Kirby didn’t let him have it.

Not defending the decision but I think Kirby liked his chances in overtime against a 3rd-string WR QB and didn't want to pin his hopes on a high-variance 60 Yard FG, especially having one blocked in the same direction earlier in the game. Probably still shook from the kick 6

Think Rod has a better chance at a 60 yarder than we do with a Hail Mary.

It's like playing golf.
If you stand on the tee and focus on avoiding the water hazard on the left or the tree on the right or the bunker or whatever, chances are you're either going to end up in one of those or else you're going to over-correct and put yourself at a disadvantage some other way. When what you need to be thinking about is simply executing your swing and trusting the club you have in your hand and blocking all those other thoughts out.
Kirby is the guy on the tee obsessing over the water hazard on the left so hard that he ends up hitting it in the water hazard over on the right instead.

Should have been kicked with 8 seconds left. Running another play was a stupid decision precisely because of what happened; loss of yardage or offensive penalty fricks it all up
After the penalty there was nothing to do. Butler kicked a 62 yarder off a tee, not comparable

Who gives a shite if he misses it, it was the choice with the highest odds of success. If there’s a 3% chance the Hail Mary converts and only a 10% chance Rod nails it, you kick the fricking FG.

This is right - is there any doubt Rod doesn't hit that 55 yard game winner?
It's been said before but we are playing scared and not to lose. We will know a lot more based on how this team looks versus Kentucky. We've got to establish some rhythm and confidence in the passing game with Blaylock and Pickens. We badly need more depth at WR behind Cager and DRob.

I think I would have spiked it, ran it for 3 yards to the side/middle Rodrigo likes and called TO to kick a 51 or 52 yarder

I understand the concerns. It was dispiriting. Words don’t describe how awful yesterday’s performance was. With that being said... It would be a major mistake for UGA fans to turn their backs on this team. We’re still really good. It’s just one of those games, and yes I’m aware of the past and don’t need a quoted history lesson... There’s plenty of quality opportunities to get right back in there. I’m moving on.

Should have gave the green light to kick. However during the time out the discussion would need to be had to make sure some type of coverage occurred and that a kick 6 could potentially happen.
I think the fact Coach Not so Smart didn't try to kick the game winner fricked with Rod's mind costing us later.

I didn’t have a problem with it. Nothing was going our way yesterday. We had already had one kick blocked and a kick of that distance has a much lower trajectory with a higher chance of getting blocked than the one that was previously. We had the more athletic team and were at home. The longer a game plays out, the more athletic team will most likely win. It’s kind of the reverse of why Mack Brown went for two against Clemson.

It made me miss Mark Richt for that moment. Richt would've let him kick it.

Kirby usually makes the wrong decision on such plays. He decided against trying 2 long but makable field goal attempts.

Cowboys kicker just booted a 62 yarder to end first half...

Looking for a possible PI call & a closer kick?
I wish on the 2&5 Fromm hadn’t predetermined his target. Coming out of the 2&5 huddle, you can see Fromm telling Wolf it’s coming his way. Sure enough he throws it into tight coverage with the defender undercutting the throw & easily knocking it down.
Meanwhile, Simmons was wide open on a slant a yard over the first down line with his defender trailing a yard & half behind. Had Fromm, who ironically looked off the perimeter defenders by staring straight down the field, thrown it to the open Simmons, who just caught the 5 yarder on 1&10 — Simmons had an open field to run.
And even though 3&5 was a penalty, Fromm again forced a throw to the same side under tight coverage to Simmons. This time the ball was tipped by a supporting defender.
Standing entirely uncovered two yards over the first down line directly in front of Fromm was Cook who came out of the backfield & no defender picked him up. He could have run for days.
I know time was a factor but Fromm should have seen Simmons & Cook — both wide open over the middle — for the first down.

The entire last Series was a hot mess. I think not giving him a shot and the earlier blocked kick got in Rod's head (shouldn't have but it did).
Can he kick it that far? Yes. Was there a tail wind. Yes. Should we have attempted a kick. Yes.
