As promised attached is video of Mullen's presser and the timing of question/answer about Trask's injury is approximately 5:08 to 6:15 and he does state that after watching tape that the hit wasn't intentional...but he also talks about protecting players in general.

He should have thought before he spoke to start with. Then trying to spin it in to trying to justify him saying what he did (trying to make it about protecting players instead of him making a dumbass comment) takes away any admission that he was sorry or wrong.

Did he call the kid out? Just taking both sides of the coin, either the kid should have been flagged for a low blow and the play reviewed, or the OL should have been flagged for holding. The officials did neither and Mullen said he needs the officials to protect the players from dirty plays.

You can flag a kid if there is a possibility it is a dirty or dangerous play and change the call upon review, which they do all the time.

He implied it, yes. The female sideline reporter asked him specifically about that play right before he shot his mouth off about it going into locker room at half. Also, at the time the play occurred on the field, Mullen was going ballistic on the sidelines because they refs didn’t flag the guy.

Ah yes. An auburn fan complaining about this after getting away with two blatant targeting calls prior to this.

Oh, and the sad Mississippi state fan. Can’t have a Mullen thread without one.

This thread will bring in those fans for sure. Already has.

So you meant to say, "Did he apologize for implying that a player may have been involved in a dirty play," Correct?

Reporter: “Auburn has an open letter requesting an apology.”

Mullen: “I’m worried about LSU.”

OMG a coach going ballistic over a call/non-call? That has never happened before. Light the torches and grab the pitchforks!

Mullen is a good coach and kudos to the Gators for the victory, but he has always been a bit of a bitch when it comes to this kind of thing.

Football players and coaches get emotional during football games, coaches get to talk to reporters with emotions running high, I despise Florida, but thought Mullen did just fine in his presser today.

To be fair Mullen has always been this way. UF fans knew it up until the moment their school hired him...at that exact moment MSU fans began admitting it.
